Full-time

Description

We have an opening for a creative, detailed lighting designer with a strong client management skill set. We seek a good collaborator who has strong technical and project management skills. This role may be filled at a Project Lighting Designer or Senior Lighting Designer level depending on the candidate's experience, skills, and demonstrated ability to operate independently.

Preference will be given to candidates based in Chicago; strong candidates in other US locations may also be considered.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

You will serve as a Project Manager and lead contributor on a variety of lighting design projects. You'll oversee project documentation and team coordination, maintain strong client relationships, and assist in preparing proposals under Partner or Principal supervision. At the Senior level, this role may also include managing larger and more complex projects with increasing autonomy, developing new projects regularly, and providing guidance to more junior staff.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

You must have excellent client care skills, work effectively as a team member, and be able to manage your time and project deadlines well. Your skills and abilities are more important to us than a precise number of years worked, but you will need approximately 5-8 years of prior experience as a lighting designer in a similar position. You must have previous client engagement experience and the ability to represent Schuler Shook positively in client and industry settings. You must be able to communicate design ideas visually and verbally, and should be a skilled user of Photoshop, AGI32, Revit, and Bluebeam. Experience in InDesign, LightStanza, ElumTools, Enscape, or 3ds Max is a plus. You must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook and be able to meet client deadlines. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, personal initiative, and an understanding of architectural lighting design are required.

WHAT WE ARE OFFERING

This is a position with healthcare benefits, paid vacation, 401k, profit sharing, bonuses, commuter plan with employer contribution, hybrid office/home work environment, cultural enrichment allowance, and the chance to work in a collaborative, team environment filled with folks who support each other as we create designs that contribute to better environments for all.

Anticipated salary range is commensurate with your ability and experience.
