Responsibilities

Full Job Description
About the role

The Project Metallurgist is part of the metallurgy team within the process sector and reports to the Operations and Metallurgy Superintendent. He/She is responsible for the design, management, and execution of metallurgical projects. He/She ensures that objectives related to production, metallurgical recoveries, operating costs, health & safety, and the environment are achieved through necessary circuit modifications. The Project Metallurgist adheres to the company's principles by adopting a management approach aligned with Dhilmar standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and implement metallurgical projects, studies, and process improvement initiatives, both at the concentrator and water treatment systems
  • Replace the Metallurgy Supervisor during vacations, including supervising the metallurgy team, monitoring processes, and producing reports
  • Manage the concentrator change request process
  • Classify and prioritize projects through the change management process
  • Conduct economic and technical analyses to determine project implementation feasibility
  • Recommend best practices and technologies from both operational and metallurgical perspectives
  • Review circuit performance against the production plan and identify gaps to help build the future project pipeline
  • Participate in updating the annual maintenance plan for critical production equipment
  • Perform risk analyses and ensure follow-up on mitigation plans
  • Coordinate and collaborate with various surface and underground departments
  • Work closely with the Éléonore site project team to ensure projects are executed and implemented according to schedule
  • Comply with, understand, and promote company policies and regulations, especially in health and safety
  • Perform all other related duties required in the role


Training & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, or Mining Engineering (Mineral Processing option)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the mining industry
  • Computer proficiency, including MS Office suite
  • Experience in mining and/or metallurgical processing plants
  • Experience in concentrator start-up
  • Experience in project development and execution in plant environments
  • Bilingualism (French/English)
