POSITION OVERVIEW: As a
Project Manager at LJA
Utilities, you will support and lead utility design and construction projects for CPS Energy, SAWS, and municipal clients throughout the San Antonio and Austin areas. You will be responsible for engineering design, utility coordination, project schedules and financial requirements, while working closely with staff, clients, consultants, and senior project managers. This role also provides the opportunity to manage and mentor team members while continuing to develop your project management and leadership skills.
A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:- Performing design calculations, preparing plans, coordinating utilities, and directing engineering designs for CPS Energy, SAWS, and San Antonio/Austin area municipal clients.
- Managing project schedules and financial requirements.
- Using advanced techniques, theory, precepts, and practices.
- Performing as an Assistant Task Leader on major projects.
- Interacting with staff, clients, and other consultants.
- Managing and mentoring direct reports.
- Participating in team lunches, breakfasts, and social activities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Texas is preferred.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:- 3+ years of experience managing a team of designers and/or engineers in utility design and construction.
- A team-first attitude with a commitment to leading a team with Integrity, Responsibility, and Perseverance.
- 4+ years of experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD, MS Office, and/or Geopak (or Open Roads).
- Some experience handling multiple deadlines.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to engage with upper management and engineering staff.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing work assignments and project needs, often on short notice.
- An open mind toward alternative methods from what you have previously been taught.
IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE:- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
- Previous work experience in a management capacity.
- Experience with utility design, including Electric, Gas, Drainage, Water, and Wastewater.
- Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, SAWS CPMS, CIVCAST, and COSA PrimeLink.
- Experience with TxRRC, TCEQ, FEMA, USACE, TxDOT, and municipal permitting requirements.
