Responsibilities

  • Ensure successful execution of all construction project management activities.
  • Review technical design documents and assess constructability for utilities and structures.

  • Identify construction risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure project success and oversee procurement of materials and subcontractors.
  • Establish and maintain the project budget and enforce change procedures.
  • Chair project management meetings and ensure accurate project reporting.

Full Job Description
  • Accountable for ensuring all construction project management activities are successfully executed.
  • Reviews technical design documents and constructability for utilities, drainage, and structures such as retaining walls, noise walls, and OCS foundations.
  • Reviews cost estimates focusing on completeness, accuracy, and underlying assumptions and check against industry benchmarks to ensure they are within acceptable ranges.
  • Analyzes potential construction risks, develop mitigation strategies, and provide inputs to the Project Risk Register.
  • Works with the Scheduling Team to build a Project schedule during the development phase.
  • Collaborates with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure project success.
  • Oversees procurement, including materials and subcontractors.
  • Establishes and maintain the project budget.
  • Enforces change procedures.
  • Reviews contract documents to ensure proper project planning, scheduling, staffing, and cost control.
  • Negotiates and executes contracts and agreements in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Chairs project management meetings with a focus on the best outcomes.
  • Ensures all project reporting is accurate and timely.
  • Oversees testing, quality, and safety.
  • Manages client and vendor relationships.
  • Ensures all project close-out activities are completed in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates commercial acumen to protect profits and improve margins.
  • Business development, including participation in costing and estimating activities and risk analysis.
  • Financial forecasting and contributing to the creation of revenue targets.

You bring:
  • Post-secondary education in engineering, construction management or equivalent discipline.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of the rail and signalling is preferred.
  • 10+ years of active, relevant, and applicable experience in the civil construction industry, focusing on rail and infrastructural projects.
  • Knowledge of various project delivery models, especially Progressive Design-Build (PDB), is an asset.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for normal functions and special assignments.
  • Proficient use of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access) is essential, and experience in using scheduling and estimating software is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Skilled at building positive working relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Good listening and communication skills.

Expected compensation for this role is between $130,000.00-$160,000.00 annually. Base salaries are determined according to multiple factors including skills, experience and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into consideration. In addition to base salary ONxpress also offers a comprehensive medical and dental program, RRSP with company matching and the potential to participate in our discretionary, performance based bonus program.
