Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting a Project Manager (3887) in Idaho Falls, ID.

Position Description

The Project Manager will support the Calcine Disposition Project (CDP) in planning project scope, organizing resources, and executing project work. This role will function primarily as a Work Package Manager, supporting the Sr. Manager/Control Account Manager with planning, monitoring, reporting, and technical oversight. The position requires application of management and engineering principles related to the design, modification, and operation of a test and processing facility at the DOE Idaho Site.

The Project Manager will develop and maintain project-specific documentation, including schedules, cost estimates, project management and engineering documentation, and compliance strategies, in accordance with DOE directives and Idaho Cleanup Project (ICP) company standards. The role requires direct involvement with project activities, routine field work at the DOE Idaho Site, and interaction with management, support organizations, and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and review project plans and proposals and collaborate with management to establish project objectives
  • Identify project priorities, define phases and key elements, and establish project sequencing and timelines
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, including materials, labor, and associated costs
  • Coordinate work with contractors, engineers, and business support teams to ensure alignment on objectives
  • Identify and manage project risks, including technical risks
  • Monitor project performance to ensure adherence to schedule and budget, adjusting plans as required
  • Communicate project progress to ICP and DOE management and stakeholders through reports and presentations
  • Lead troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts to resolve issues impacting project execution
  • Organize and maintain project documentation, including records and project notes
  • Coordinate services between CDP and ICP support organizations
  • Develop project-specific plans, budgets, and schedules
  • Support document preparation and technical reviews
  • Direct and monitor execution of defined project scope
  • Provide project-specific safety and compliance leadership

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five (5) years of directly applicable experience
  • Experience in project management and/or engineering disciplines preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to apply management and engineering principles within DOE or similar regulated environments

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working at a Department of Energy facility
  • Familiarity with DOE orders and standards, including DOE O 413.3B, DOE-STD-[redacted], DOE-STD-1073, and DOE-STD-[redacted]
  • Experience interfacing with DOE and multiple stakeholders, including Idaho DEQ, U.S. EPA, Tribal Nations, and the public

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with limited direction and supervision
  • Ability to work effectively under short deadlines and changing priorities
  • Strong technical writing skills, particularly for project and engineering documentation
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with individual contributors and management teams
