Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for managing pipe fabrication projects from initial RFQ review and estimating through project award, fabrication, and client delivery. This role serves as the primary connection between the client and the shop, ensuring projects are accurately estimated, efficiently executed, and completed to customer requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Review and evaluate incoming Requests for Quotation (RFQs), drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Prepare accurate project estimates, including material, labor, fabrication, and other applicable costs.
  • Coordinate with management and operations to develop competitive and realistic project pricing and schedules.
  • Lead and oversee the pipe fabrication team at the Hammond facility, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications.
  • Plan and coordinate fabrication activities, manpower, materials, and production schedules.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients following project award and throughout the fabrication process.
  • Communicate project status, schedules, changes, and potential issues to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Review project requirements and ensure fabrication work meets approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.
  • Identify and resolve fabrication, scheduling, material, and scope issues in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with purchasing, engineering, quality, and field personnel as needed to maintain project schedules.
  • Monitor project progress, costs, and schedules from award through completion.
  • Support change-order evaluation and pricing when project scope changes.
  • Promote a safe, organized, and productive shop environment.

  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Strong understanding of pipe fabrication processes, materials, labor requirements, and production methods.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced shop environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project/estimating software.
  • Ability to work effectively with both shop personnel and clients.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, schedule, and customer satisfaction.
