Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Contract Project Manager to lead a high-priority initiative focused on redesigning and implementing employee onboarding processes. This role will own the project lifecycle across process design, Workday, integrations, testing, implementation, and continuous improvement. Candidates should bring proven Workday project experience, strong Agile delivery skills, and the ability to secure alignment across technical and business stakeholders.

Must Haves
  • Demonstrated experience leading Workday projects, implementations, or post-go-live optimization initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of Workday Recruiting and Onboarding, including related business processes and workflows.
  • Broad understanding of Workday HCM and connected HR business processes.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams, senior stakeholders, and executive audiences.
  • Strong experience with Agile project management, incremental delivery, feedback cycles, and process improvement.
  • Ability to manage complex projects involving multiple systems, integrations, dependencies, and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to operate independently and with limited direction.
  • Experience using project management or collaboration platforms to manage plans, deliverables, risks, issues, and dependencies.

What the Client Needs You to Do

You will lead the transformation of employee onboarding from initial requirements through implementation and ongoing optimization. Success in this role requires someone who can translate business needs into actionable project plans, coordinate technical and functional teams, and maintain momentum within a complex enterprise environment. You will serve as a central point of coordination across HR, IT, business stakeholders, security teams, and third-party vendors while ensuring decisions, risks, and dependencies remain visible and actively managed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the redesign and implementation of employee onboarding processes within Workday, including establishing new workflows and procedures where needed.
  • Manage the complete delivery lifecycle, covering discovery, requirements, process design, testing, deployment, stabilization, and enhancement activities.
  • Coordinate integrations between Workday and supporting platforms, including systems used for background screening and employment verification.
  • Partner with HR, IT, business leaders, security teams, and vendors to establish requirements, clarify ownership, and resolve dependencies.
  • Apply Agile delivery practices to promote iterative progress, stakeholder feedback, transparency, and continuous enhancement.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, deliverables, risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, and decision logs.
  • Facilitate project ceremonies, working sessions, stakeholder meetings, status reporting, and executive communications.
  • Identify and mitigate delivery risks, organizational obstacles, competing priorities, and potential roadblocks before they affect project outcomes.
  • Navigate complex stakeholder relationships and organizational dynamics while maintaining alignment, accountability, and forward progress.
  • Drive ongoing improvement by evaluating stakeholder feedback, identifying process gaps, and recommending enhancements to the onboarding experience and supporting technology.
