Full Job Description
Your Role: As a Project Manager in the Electronics Engineering Project Development team, you will lead the front-end development of capital projects starting from idea scoping through conceptual design and basic engineering, and project approval for execution. Projects range from production expansion, equipment installation, and greenfield plant construction. Each project requires careful and attentive consideration for business case, project execution model, process scope development, cost and schedule estimating, project planning, hazard reviews, and design through conceptual and basic engineering resulting in +/-10% cost estimate ready for project approval. To succeed in this role, you will collaborate with global and cross-functional teams to develop the safest project with the most cost-effective plant design. You will need to translate complex issues into practical concepts and will be counted upon to solve unique or sophisticated project development challenges. Since a major determinant of project success is effective planning and strategy development, you will collaborate with your internal and external parties throughout development, ensuring effective front-end planning. As a project development authority, you will keep advancing your skills through continuous education and on-the-job training, introduce improvements into the company, and propagate standard methodologies and lessons learned. Key Responsibilities: - Development of capital projects starting with translating business needs into technical scope and project execution plan, then completing Front End Loading and obtaining project approval. - Work with Procurement to develop the procurement and project execution strategies, including the development of bidder lists, bid packages and complete Commercial Bid Evaluations and Technical Bid Evaluations. - Ensure correct usage of all project development and company standards, templates and processes during the Front End Loading process. - Facilitate communication and coordination within the engineering team, with all project stakeholders, and with senior leaders. - Lead status meetings with upper management, advisory and/or steering committee members for escalation and resolution of risks and issues during Front End Loading. - Ensure project scope, schedule, budget, and risks are fully developed prior to project approval, using appropriate risk and probability tools, aligned to industry best practices. - Ensure that projects are ready to execute to meet defined performance targets including ensuring that estimates are capital efficient, with appropriate contingencies included in the economics of the project. - Monitor project performance and incorporate learnings to continuously improve project outcomes. - Support the development and rollout of project management process improvement initiatives. Who You Are Minimum Qualifications: - BS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related engineering/science field. - 5+ years of project management or project engineering experience in chemical manufacturing or other manufacturing industries. Preferred Qualifications: - Deep understanding of front-end loading (FEL) approach for project scoping and development. - Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus. - Experience in industrial process plant estimating, engineering and construction practices, particularly semiconductor chemical plants. - Experience in developing and executing small to large capital projects (between $10MM - $100MM) using various execution strategies including use of engineering design, construction and procurement (EPC) and/or design-build (DB) contracts. - Knowledge of robust project development and project engineering systems as well as strong awareness and sensitivity to the complexities and safety challenges of implementing specialty materials manufacturing processes. - Validated ability to solve sophisticated problems and deal with a variety of situations while maintaining expected development cost, schedule, quality and scope. - Experience working in a global matrix organization. - Proven experience as part of an engineering team, helping to identify solutions and develop engineering resources. - Experience in leading multi-discipline project teams on large complex projects and programs. - Wide range of PC software skills needed to effectively develop and execute projects. Pay Range for this position: $126,400-$189,600 The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors.
