Who are we looking for?

GHD has an outstanding opportunity for a Project Manager - Land Development in Ontario, with the option to work from our Mississauga, Whitby, Markham, Waterloo or Ottawa offices in a hybrid arrangement.

As a Project Manager, you will lead the design of Land Development projects, and a team of engineering and technical professionals through all stages of land development projects. From concept to construction, you will coordinate with other GHD disciplines and external team members as required to achieve the project's objectives.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

Responsibilities
  • Contract Management: Provide technical support to project team for tendering, contract administration and construction inspection tasks.
  • Engineering Standards Specification: Ensure that project design records and files are optimally managed and in accordance with GHD standards.
  • Quality : Perform quality assurance, quality control and other design and approval related duties as assigned or required.
  • Process Design Engineering: Liaise and coordinate with client, project team, third parties and regulatory agencies to establish design objectives for submissions.
  • Client & Customer Management (External): Liaise with municipalities, clients, and other approval agencies in the pursuit of approvals and general coordination of work plan, communicating important project information.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
  • Engineering Drawings: Lead technical team to the completion of conceptual, preliminary and detailed engineering design documents to support site plan and plan of subdivision applications.
  • Engineering Solutions Design: Leading the design team to establish scope, budget and schedule for land development projects.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Technical Developments Recommendation: Research and suggest technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users' needs.
  • Product and Solution Development: Define and deliver products and services that meet customer needs by selecting the best possible approaches available within established systems.
  • Project Management: Pursue project's financial targets and implement established quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Governance: Maintain internal project governance standards and keep clients informed of project status. -
  • Pursuits: Effectively engage with clients, architects, planners, and other industry leaders to generate awareness of GHD and its capabilities; pursue business development opportunities as needed.

Education
  • Post-secondary (college/university) civil engineering education
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or CET designation or relevant experience to pursue these designations

Experience
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in design and management of land development projects
  • Experience working in an engineering team pursuing land development applications such as rezoning, draft plan of subdivision or site plan
  • Experience designing municipal services or stormwater management facilities to support a land development application in Ontario.
  • Working knowledge of the Planning Act and development application processes in Ontario
