Full Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project Manager II to join our team at K&A Power Group in Charlotte, NC. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. The Project Manager 2 leads the development and execution planning of customer-driven transmission projects for large industrial and technology clients requiring 20+ megawatts of power capacity. This role is responsible for guiding projects from the Select Gate phase through conceptual engineering, detailed development, cost estimation, and initial scheduling, preparing projects for handoff into implementation at the Initiate Gate.

This position plays a critical role in delivering complex, high-capacity transmission solutions and requires strong technical project management expertise, deep understanding of utility transmission systems, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

Role Expectations:
  • Develop and manage transmission-fed infrastructure projects for large-scale industrial and commercial customers
  • Ensure complete and accurate project scope, design inputs, and documentation to support project initiation
  • Build and maintain detailed cost estimates to inform project approvals and business decisions
  • Develop and track project schedules to support planning, engineering, and implementation phases
  • Initiate and manage project schedules using Primavera P6
  • Monitor project performance, budget, and reporting using Ecosys
  • Conduct site field visits during early project phases (approximately 10% travel)
  • Collaborate with engineers, project controls, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Support customer engagement and communication for large commercial/industrial clients
  • Prepare projects for transition into execution and construction phases


What we're looking for:
  • 9+ years of project management experience
  • Direct experience with electric utility transmission projects (required)
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 scheduling software
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle, budgeting, and cost estimation
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related technical field
  • Valid driver's license for regional site visits
  • Preferred Master's degree (business, engineering, or related field)
  • Experience with Ecosys financial management system
  • Proficiency in Power BI for reporting and data visualization
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with SharePoint lists and collaboration tools
  • Background in project scheduling or project controls
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus


Pay Range $54-59/hour
