Full Job Description
Project Manager - Heavy Civil

This position is based out of the Kamloops / Thompson area in British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Anticipate project needs with sufficient lead-time to avoid delay and ensure timely delivery.
  • Prepare and issue project deliverables in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Develop and monitor resource requirements, coordinating with personnel across divisions to optimize efficiency.
  • Provide positive safety and quality leadership throughout the duration of the project.
  • Work closely with the Superintendent to monitor financial aspects of the contract to protect interests of all parties.
  • Monitor construction progress and ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
  • Provide technical guidance to site personnel and proactively resolve project challenges.
  • Review and report on project cost variances, providing feedback to project teams as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate leadership in health, safety and environmental (HSE) practices.
  • Maintain working knowledge of HSE regulations and ensure their application on site.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the construction schedule with the Superintendent.
  • Evaluate workmanship and ensure compliance with the company Quality Management program.
  • Manage material orders, confirm receipt, and coordinate equipment returns.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports documenting progress, inspections, and other relevant information.
  • Complete daily online reporting using app-based programs.
  • Identify and solve constructability issues, applying innovative solutions to project planning.


Qualifications:

  • 2 years of project management experience in heavy civil construction
  • Diploma or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Civil Technology
  • Strong knowledge of construction disciplines, cost control, scheduling and safety regulations
  • Ability to take on unique challenges daily, with the responsibility of keeping a project on schedule and in budget
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel to out-of-town project sites as needed
  • Knowledge of WorkSafeBC Health & Safety legislation and regulations
  • Ability to complete online orientations and digital training requirements as needed
  • Valid class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat


Location: This position will be based out of the Kamloops / Thompson area of British Columbia. This is not a camp position.
