The Position:

Position General Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for managing projects and deliverables against a timeline, budget, and scope in order to recognize and mitigate risks. The Project Manager manages resources, schedules, and financials and adheres to the EPMO best practice processes throughout the life of the project. The Project Manger manages the tasks on a day-to-day basis to verify that the project produces the required deliverables of quality, within the specified constraints of time and cost in order to achieve the potential benefits defined in the business case.

Essential Position Functions:
  • Manage the project team: develop and motivate team members to meet project goals by adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
  • Analyze and synthesize business requirements, including recognizing patterns and conceptualizing processes
  • Own project life cycle: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment
  • Report on project success criteria results: reporting includes measuring against established metrics, adherence to testing requirements, and deployment management activities
  • Create a problem-solving environment: work creatively and analytically using skills that demonstrate teamwork, innovation and a focus on solutioning results
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
  • Prepare estimates and a detailed project plan for all phases of the project
  • Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes
  • Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources and facilitates the project management team meetings and er required events associated with the needs of the projects
  • Provide status reporting by communicating across leadership levels regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues
  • Understand interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs
  • Demonstrate a functional acumen to support how solutions will address client goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices
  • Manage project scope and changes against the project's timeline and budget requirements; ensure project milestones are met
  • Act as an internal quality control check for the project
  • Practice project management principles, methods, and techniques
  • Review and provide input on Best Practices, facilitating operational improvements
  • Define the Statement of Work and Specifications for the requested goods and services
  • Develop and manage all aspects of project engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks, and issues
  • Monitor, track, and control outcomes to identify risks and resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies, and critical path deliverables
  • Define success criteria and key performance indicators and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle
  • Manage project CRIADL, developing mitigation(s) that impact the baseline
  • Continue professional development to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods and best practices
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrate respect for others

Minimum Requirements:

Education/Licensure/Certification:
  • Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience
  • Industry certification in project management practice (preferred)


Experience:
  • Five years of project management or related experience
  • Five years of experience working with business stakeholders


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and SharePoint with experience presenting to stakeholders and/or senior leadership

Florida Virtual School (FLVS) is a public online school based in Orlando, Florida. The school offers online courses for students in kindergarten through 12th grade, as well as adult learners. FLVS was founded in 1997 as the first statewide Internet-based public high school in the United States.
