Position Summary The McClure Company is searching for a Project Manager/Estimator with Estimating and Project Management experience. This individual will negotiate, estimate, quote, bid, propose and close projects at qualified margins. Develop sales leads, maintain account relationships and qualify prospects as needed.
Essential Functions - Familiarity with mechanical design assumptions and calculations and prepares equipment/material specifications to meet all requirements.
- Directly communicate with customers including end-users, OEM's suppliers, etc. in the form of quotations, meetings and technical presentations to understand and define their needs.
- Control expenditures within limitations of project budget.
- Maintain up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments that effect target markets.
- Resolve problems with products and services.
- Act as technical expert for the company for both internal and external customers.
- Establish and maintain industry contacts that lead to sales.
- Research and develop lists of potential customers.
- Establish long-term, ongoing repeat relationships by making regular account / sales calls and follow up on leads.
- Develop project proposals for customers.
- Act to close deals & finalize project scope of work.
- Assist in the development phase of design build projects by attending site surveys, meetings and subcontractor coordination
- Develop and review equipment/material submittals.
- Participate and at times lead the turnover/release process for related equipment and material selection and procurement.
- Experience or familiarity with Viewpoint MEP Estimating or comparable estimating software is a plus.
- Other miscellaneous mechanical project management, estimating, and engineering duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications - Ability to make technical presentations internally and to customers.
- Ability to work with customers to define and document requirements, address technical concerns and provide project status.
- Prior sales or hands-on experience with either technical products, flow, temperature, humidity, instrumentation, engineered systems, capital budgeted systems or HVAC mechanical design.
- Experience in the understanding of industrial mechanical systems, commercial office buildings, small industrial plants and warehouses, central chilled water and heating plants, water pumping stations and wastewater treatment plants.
- Familiarity with the AE design process and specifications leading to construction documents.
- Strong estimating skills.
- Good problem finding and solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
