Project Manager opportunity in Los Alamos, NM to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Work Location: 100% Onsite - TA55- PLANT

Work Schedule: Nightshift and weekend work is required

Summary:

The Construction Superintendent team at Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking Project Managers to support facility upgrade and renovation projects within active nuclear facilities. This position is focused on execution of field construction activities associated with facility modifications rather than cradle-to-grave construction project management.

The Project Manager will oversee and coordinate craft activities related to facility improvements or facility upgrades (e.g., glovebox installations, piping modifications, electrical equipment installations). A successful candidate will work closely with craft foremen, planners, engineering personnel, and project stakeholders to safely and efficiently execute work in accordance with approved work packages, schedules, and LANL requirements.

Duties:
  • Provide field leadership and oversight for construction and maintenance activities associated with facility upgrades, renovations, and modifications.
  • Supervise multiple craft disciplines during the performance of scheduled activities.
  • Conduct and lead pre-job briefings to communicate work scope, hazards, controls, and expectations to field personnel.
  • Interface daily with union craft foremen and field personnel to coordinate work activities, resolve issues in accordance with bargaining agreement requirements, and facilitate progress.
  • Promote and enforce compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment focused on teamwork, communication, and safe work execution.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules using Primavera P6 to ensure work is executed safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor field performance, productivity, and schedule adherence while identifying and mitigating execution challenges.
  • Maintain accurate work status information and communicate project progress, issues, and recovery plans to management and stakeholders.
  • Review and validate work packages developed by work planners to ensure scope, sequencing, resources, and execution plans are clearly defined and executable.
  • Coordinate materials, equipment, tools, and resources necessary to support planned work activities.
  • Interpret and utilize construction drawings, blueprints, schematics, and engineering documents to support field execution, work package development, and resolve construction issues.
  • Lead constructability reviews and provide input regarding work sequencing, access requirements, and field execution strategies.
  • Participate in investigations of abnormal events, incidents, and near misses and assist with implementation of corrective actions.


Qualifications:
  • 10 years of work experience, including 5+ years of experience in construction, maintenance, facility operations, or field supervision.
  • Nuclear project or operational experience is required.
  • Experience supporting or leading facility upgrades, renovations, modifications, or maintenance projects in an operating facility environment.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to organize, direct, and coordinate craft personnel and subcontractors.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, piping, and construction drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
  • Basic understanding of Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Basic understanding of Control Account Manager role and reporting requirements
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong and effective customer engagement.
  • Ability to promote an open communication environment to develop mutual trust and teamwork.
  • Must be available to work night and weekend work schedules, and overtime as required.

  • Experience as a CAM
