Job DescriptionYour OpportunityAECOM is seeking a results-driven Design-Build Project Manager to join our Buildings + Places team in Burnaby, BC.
In this role, you will lead the delivery of complex, high-profile projects using Design-Build and alternative delivery models, including Progressive Design-Build, Alliance, and IPD. You will be embedded within high-performing, multidisciplinary teams and act as the single point of accountability for project delivery, integrating design and construction to achieve exceptional outcomes. This position is for a newly created position.
You will play a critical leadership role, shaping project execution strategies, driving commercial performance, and building strong client relationships-while delivering impactful infrastructure and building projects across Metro Vancouver and beyond.

What You Will DoYou will lead the full project lifecycle with a strong focus on integration, execution, and performance:
Project Leadership & Delivery• Lead Design-Build and alternative delivery projects from early strategy through construction and close-out
• Act as the single point of accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety outcomes
• Drive project execution strategies that integrate design, construction, and stakeholder requirements
Design-Build Integration & Coordination• Coordinate closely with contractors, joint venture partners, consultants, and internal teams to ensure constructability and alignment
• Lead multidisciplinary teams across architecture, engineering, and project controls
• Ensure seamless integration between design development and construction execution
Project Controls & Commercial Performance• Manage project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting (EAC), fee management, and margin optimization
• Oversee change management, contract administration, and commercial risk management
• Monitor progress against key milestones and implement corrective actions as required
Risk, Quality & Safety• Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks (technical, commercial, and delivery)
• Ensure compliance with AECOM's quality management systems and safe work practices
• Lead project reviews and ensure audit-defensible documentation
Client & Stakeholder Management• Serve as the primary client interface, building trusted relationships and ensuring delivery excellence
• Lead coordination with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), permitting bodies, and regulatory stakeholders across BC
• Facilitate effective communication across all project stakeholders
Business Development & Growth• Support capture strategies, proposals, and client engagement activities
• Contribute to strengthening AECOM's Design-Build presence in Western Canada
• Identify opportunities for repeat work and client expansion
QualificationsMinimum Requirements• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field + 4 (four) years of experience managing multiple projects of various types and complexities for commercial, institutional, and light industrial client
• Demonstrated experience delivering Design-Build or alternative delivery projects
• Ability to obtain and maintain Government of Canada security clearance
Security Clearance Requirements• Must hold or be eligible to obtain:
o Reliability Status (minimum)
o Secret Clearance (required for many federal projects)
• Clearances are administered by the Contract Security Program (CSP) through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC)
• Ability to comply with project-specific security protocols, including controlled site access and information handling requirements
Preferred Qualifications• Professional designation (P.Eng. or Architect - AIBC)
• 10+ years of progressive project management experience delivering building or infrastructure projects
• PMP certification; DBIA certification is an asset
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing project financials, contracts, and change management
• Experience delivering projects in the Western Canada market
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams in complex project environments
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Technical Skills• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel for financial tracking and reporting)
• Experience with project scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent)
• Familiarity with project delivery and document control platforms (e.g., SharePoint, BIM 360, Aconex)
• Working knowledge of project controls systems, reporting tools, and data-driven performance trackin
