We are currently seeking a qualified Construction Manager / Project Manager to join our Infrastructure team, based out of Toronto ON.

As part of the Ontario Line Delivery Partner team, this role will support the Elevated Guideway and Stations (EGS) segment of one of Canada's largest and most complex transit infrastructure programs. The successful candidate will provide leadership, oversight, and coordination of construction activities while working closely with Metrolinx, contractors, designers, and project stakeholders to support the safe, efficient, and successful delivery of the works.

The successful candidate will oversee project construction activities, including health and safety, field engineering, contract administration, quality, cost and schedule performance, logistics planning, and stakeholder coordination. Through strong leadership and collaboration, you will help ensure project objectives are achieved safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual and program requirements.

Please note that the project designation for this position is Construction Manager. Candidates with experience in either Construction Manager or Project Manager roles on major infrastructure projects are encouraged to apply.

About the Project

Bantrel Infrastructure, a key sub-vendor to Bechtel, has been appointed as the Delivery Partner working alongside Metrolinx on the Ontario Line Subway Project in Toronto. The Ontario Line will provide approximately 15.6 kilometres of new rapid transit service, connecting communities across the city and helping transform how people move throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

This position will support the Elevated Guideway and Stations (EGS) segment of the project. The EGS scope includes the delivery of elevated guideway structures, bridge works, associated civil infrastructure, and station facilities that form a key component of the Ontario Line. Working within an integrated Delivery Partner team, the successful candidate will support the planning, monitoring, and execution of construction activities, contractor performance, interfaces, safety, quality, schedule, and stakeholder coordination across this complex urban transit program.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for construction activities and logistics planning within the Elevated Guideway and Stations segment of the Ontario Line.
  • Monitor the contractor's implementation of installation sequencing, schedule execution, labour planning, and interfaces with adjacent contractors.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams on constructability and design matters and conduct constructability reviews of detailed design and construction packages.
  • Collaborate with contractors to implement health and safety best practices and support a strong project safety culture.
  • Monitor implementation of contractor quality programs and verify compliance with project specifications and requirements.
  • Support the Project Controls team in preparing cost reports, forecasts, progress reports, and schedule updates.
  • Ensure implementation of project construction procedures and standards.
  • Coordinate with planning teams to review contractor schedules and construction programs.
  • Review contractor means and methods and identify opportunities to improve project execution.
  • Coordinate with Contract Administration on matters affecting contract performance and execution.
  • Support the administration of contract changes and participate in contractual discussions and negotiations.
  • Mentor and develop project team members while supporting workforce planning activities.
  • Provide leadership and coordination across multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and contractors to support successful project delivery.


Qualifications

Job Knowledge
  • Engineering, procurement, and construction of large infrastructure and transportation projects.
  • Construction delivery within integrated project and Delivery Partner environments.
  • Ontario Line project scope, delivery model, and key stakeholders.
  • Elevated guideway, bridge, station, transit, rail, or major transportation infrastructure construction.
  • Contractor management, interface management, and multidisciplinary project coordination.
  • Construction planning, logistics management, contract administration, quality, safety, and project controls.
  • The EGS scope of work and overview of the Project Agreement (PA).

Qualifications
  • Relevant bachelor's degree from an accredited university and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience working on major infrastructure, transportation, transit, rail, bridge, station, or heavy civil projects.
  • Experience in construction management, project management, or project delivery leadership roles on complex projects.
  • Experience across multiple project delivery functions, including engineering, contracts and procurement, construction, testing and commissioning, project controls, quality, environment, and safety.
  • Demonstrated experience managing contractors and coordinating interfaces across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong leadership, relationship-building, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety, and Health (ES&H).

Base Annual Salary: $140,000 to $200,000 CAD per year (Bantrel provides a competitive compensation package that reflects the skills, qualifications, and experience relevant to the role. The figures shared represent base salary only and do not include other elements of the Total Rewards offering. Final compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience and alignment with the role requirements.)
