Role Overview At Equans, you will not be working on standard projects with off-the-shelf solutions. You will work on
existing, energy-intensive, and complex buildings designed at a time when energy was inexpensive. Each
assignment is unique and requires technical rigor, curiosity, a strong sense of ownership, and comfort
with complexity.
Here, you will not simply be handed an instruction manual: you will be entrusted with a performance
objective to achieve. You will have the latitude, resources, and tools needed to determine the best way to
get there. You will help lead the execution phase, from preconstruction and site activities through to
project delivery and closeout. You will leverage your technical background in engineering and your project
management skills to ensure safety, client satisfaction, budget and schedule compliance, and the
achievement of guaranteed results.
In addition, the project manager will be responsible for managing and coordinating future projects of
various sizes, with a particular focus on asset renewal for PPP contracts (Public-Private Partnerships).
The project manager will work closely with various project leads, stakeholders, and internal teams to
ensure successful project delivery on time and within budget.
Summary The Project Manager - Construction and Energy Efficiency plays a key role in planning, coordinating, and
overseeing construction projects and the implementation of energy efficiency measures, primarily in the
field of building mechanical systems. The incumbent ensures projects are completed in compliance with
technical requirements, budgets, schedules, quality standards, and performance objectives.
In this role, you will work closely with the Energy Project Lead, the PMO team, internal teams,
subcontractors, and various stakeholders to ensure project success and deliver a high-quality client
experience.
Description - Lead and coordinate project management activities on site, including project planning, execution,
and closeout, with a daily presence at the project site. - Coordinate construction and commissioning activities to minimize disruptions to building
occupants and operations while proactively addressing operational requirements throughout
project execution. - Support the commissioning and startup of modified HVAC systems by troubleshooting hydronic
and air balancing issues and coordinating effective resolutions with trades and facility teams. - Ensure compliance with client Capital Development Standards by integrating technical and
regulatory requirements into all phases of project delivery. - Lead project start-up activities, including the management of insurance documentation, bonds,
permits, regulatory filings, and administrative requirements. - Champion a strong health and safety culture by promoting compliance with regulatory
requirements and industry best practices across all job sites. - Oversee job-site mobilization, monitoring, and closeout activities while coordinating
subcontractors and trades to support efficient project execution. - Build and maintain collaborative relationships with clients, facility users, subcontractors,
operations personnel, and internal stakeholders. - Ensure project execution aligns with approved plans, specifications, and design intent through
close collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams. - Apply technical expertise in energy conservation measures to support proper installation,
commissioning, and long-term operational performance. - Drive continuous improvement by identifying innovative solutions that optimize project budgets,
schedules, resources, and technical outcomes. - Deliver an exceptional client experience through proactive communication, collaborative problem-
solving, and a commitment to project success. - Monitor project costs and implement cost-control strategies to maximize value and support
budget objectives. - Conduct quality assurance and quality control activities, including document reviews, approvals,
and field inspections to ensure compliance with project requirements. - Maintain accurate project records and documentation within corporate management systems to
support efficient project administration. - Partner with multidisciplinary teams to define project scope, requirements, deliverables, and
success criteria. - Serve as the primary point of coordination among project stakeholders to ensure clear
communication and alignment of objectives. - Manage project resources, equipment, and information to support successful project delivery.
- Oversee equipment installation activities to ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory
requirements, and project specifications. - Evaluate project risks and opportunities and implement mitigation or improvement strategies to
enhance project outcomes. - Prepare and communicate project status updates, reports, and key performance metrics to
internal and external stakeholders. - Support budget planning, forecasting, and expense tracking to maintain financial accountability

Requirements - Authorized to work in Canada;
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required level of background clearance;
- College diploma in building mechanical systems or equivalent training, combined with
approximately seven years of relevant experience in a similar role related to building mechanical
systems, construction, or infrastructure projects; - Training in project management, business administration, or a related field will be considered an
asset; - Previous experience in project management or project coordination;
- Experience within the institutional sector an asset;
- Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Asana, or equivalent tools;
- Have a good understanding of building mechanical systems and their functions, with the ability to
prioritize innovative solutions over conventional approaches; - Good proficiency with standard computer tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe;
- Valid driver's license and willingness to work regularly on project and construction sites;
- Advanced written and verbal proficiency in English.
