Position Overview

The Compensation Consulting Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering a wide variety of compensation consulting projects on time and within scope. This role leads total compensation initiatives, including:
  • Competitive market benchmarking
  • Base compensation design
  • Executive compensation programs
  • Short-term incentive plans
  • Long-term incentive plans

The Project Manager works directly with clients and collaborates closely with fellow consultants, analysts, and client stakeholders to ensure project objectives are achieved and client expectations are exceeded.

This role requires exceptional interpersonal skills, strong project management capabilities, analytical expertise, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple moderately complex to highly complex compensation consulting projects, ensuring completion within budget, scope, and timeline.
  • Coordinate internal resources and manage client communications to deliver a seamless, high-quality client experience.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively manage risks, issues, scope changes, and project dependencies.
  • Track project hours and billing on a weekly basis while monitoring project costs against budget.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with project teams and client stakeholders, providing status updates and ensuring alignment.
  • Oversee quality assurance of project deliverables, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to firm standards.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing expectations and responding to inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Participate in business development efforts by identifying opportunities to expand existing client engagements and attract new clients.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities initially but may include supervisory responsibilities in the future.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of related experience in compensation, human resources, consulting, or a related field.
Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of compensation concepts, job evaluation methodologies, salary structures, incentive plan design, and regulatory compliance.
  • High level of intellectual curiosity combined with business and financial acumen.
  • Demonstrated understanding of or interest in workforce planning, career pathing, and organizational design.
  • Ability to analyze moderately complex business and financial data and develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to build effective relationships across all levels of an organization and work successfully within diverse teams and cultures.
  • Ability to contribute effectively to complex project teams.
Skills & Abilities
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • Strong planning, organizational, project management, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal, written, listening, and presentation skills.
  • Strong client service orientation with exceptional attention to detail and process quality.
