Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for managing fabrication projects from order receipt through final delivery for ASME pressure vessels and related fabricated equipment. This role coordinates engineering, procurement, production, quality control, and client communication to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with ASME Code and customer specifications.

Essential Functions

  • Manage assigned ASME fabrication projects from contract award through completion and shipment.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, datasheets, and customer requirements to ensure full compliance.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and monitor progress through engineering, procurement, fabrication, and inspection phases.
  • Coordinate with shop supervision, engineering, quality control, and procurement to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and provide regular updates on schedule and fabrication progress.
  • Coordinate drawing development and reviews with engineering and drafting teams.
  • Ensure shop drawings, calculations, and documentation meet ASME Code requirements and customer specifications.
  • Work with procurement to ensure long lead materials such as plate, flanges, and forgings are ordered and delivered on schedule.
  • Monitor shop fabrication progress and coordinate with production supervisors to maintain project schedules.
  • Coordinate with Quality Control to ensure inspections, testing, and documentation meet ASME Code and client requirements.
  • Assist in resolving fabrication issues, technical challenges, NCRs, and corrective actions.
  • Track project costs, labor hours, and budgets and identify change order opportunities.


Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent fabrication or industrial experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in fabrication, pressure vessel manufacturing, or industrial construction.
  • Experience managing ASME pressure vessel or heavy fabrication projects preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication details, and technical specifications.
  • Strong organizational, scheduling, and communication skills.


Preferred Experience

  • Experience with ASME Section VIII Div. 1 or Div. 2 pressure vessels.
  • Knowledge of pressure vessel materials, flanges, nozzles, and structural supports.
  • Experience coordinating third party inspections and code compliance.
  • Experience with fabrication shop scheduling and production workflow.
