Summary

The Project Manager will lead projects, primarily supporting the Controller and Accounting business unit. The PM will utilize their business acumen in finance, accounting, and systems to ensure day-to-day project progress and completion. The PM will review relevant processes and support transformation projects related to these processes. Experience supporting ERP systems/financial systems upgrades or implementations will be highly preferred.

Organizes project teams, assigns individual responsibilities, developing project schedules, and determines resource requirements. Monitors and reports on the status of projects including cost, timing, and staffing. Ensures adherence to internal and external quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the project lifecycle. Effectively schedule and oversee large jobs under tight deadlines
  • Assesses initial project feasibility of new projects and develop project scopes, schedules, deadlines, dependencies, resource requirements, and estimated budget.
  • Leverage problem-solving skills to identify key issues/questions at the beginning of a project and develop an appropriate work plan, including project scope, timelines, and specific analyses to be completed, and assign individual responsibilities
  • Serves as Project Lead for key Business Unit projects, programs and technology implementations and enhancements. Lead initiatives and engages the right stakeholder groups to reach desired conclusions. Develops metrics, project timelines, budget projections, and employ solid project management tools and processes to ensure the delivery of these projects. This includes the developing and maintaining project tracking tools and metrics to assist in evaluating project status and progress including risk documentation, progress reports, problem logs, and dashboards.
  • Develop communications plans, and review communications delivered to the business to ensure they are comprehensive, timely, consistent and cascaded appropriately
  • Coordinate work done by project teams. Resolve team disputes. Provide leadership to project teams. Coordinate processes related to assigned projects/programs
  • Conduct Needs Analysis for Business Unit processes and execute on those processes as resources and requirements change
  • Assists Business Unit Leadership in the development and tracking of budgets as required.
  • Demonstrates use of quality Improvement in daily operations.
  • May direct the day-to-day assignments of contingent/contract workers or serve as a team lead.

Education, Experience and Certifications
• Bachelor's Degree with 6 years relevant work experience
Or Associate's Degree with 8 years relevant work experience
Or High School Diploma with 10 years relevant work experience
• Certification in a Project Management discipline, such as Project Management Professional (PMP) is preferred.
• Utility or Energy industry experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Up to 25% travel, primarily within NY State.
  • May attend a variety of meetings, conferences, seminars during and outside of normal business hours.
  • Ability to visit customer sites and NYPA facilities.

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The estimated salary range for this position is: $128,000 - $160,000. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
