Full Job Description
Arnett & Burgess Energy Services (ABES) is looking to add a Project Manager, based out of our Blackfalds, AB office.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, this position will lead a portfolio of pipeline and facility construction projects, from pursuit through closeout. Carrying several projects at once, at different stages and potentially for different clients, this position is accountable for how each one performs - cost, schedule, risk, and client satisfaction. Working under master service agreements on an hourly or target price model, it will partner closely with Superintendents, who lead site execution while you own the commercial and contractual side, and will support pipeline construction, integrity and replacement programs, and facility and civil scopes for some of the most recognized operators in the country.

Please Note: this position is office based and requires occasional travel (10 to 20 percent) for field visits, including scheduled travel to other offices, operating facilities, active construction sites, and client facilities during construction periods or as project needs require. There will be periods of elevated intensity during peak construction season.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects across pursuit, initiation, execution, and closeout, standing accountable for the safety, cost, schedule, and quality outcome of each one
  • Support estimating and project pursuit, partnering with Superintendents on constructability, production rates, and pricing before bids are submitted
  • Serve as the primary commercial contact for clients on contracts, change orders, formal reporting, and escalations
  • Lead the Project Controllers and Project Administration staff assigned to your projects, setting reporting cadence and standards and vetting all output
  • Own all formal client-facing reporting, validating field-generated production, cost, and progress data before it's issued
  • Own contract review, change management, and subcontract administration, negotiating change orders to a commercial conclusion
  • Own the master schedule baseline and cost forecasting, leading recovery planning when milestones come under threat
  • Maintain live risk registers and value-add logs across your portfolio, and drive project financial closeout, including holdback release, final billing, and warranty activation
  • Hold our path to zero safety commitment as a personal standard, and confirm HSE and quality obligations are built into every project plan

Requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in pipeline and facility construction, with a demonstrated record of managing projects as the accountable lead
  • Proven ability to manage several concurrent projects at different stages without losing control of any of them
  • Experience leading and developing direct reports in a project controls, coordination, or administration capacity
  • A demonstrated record of working directly and effectively with Superintendents and field crews through both bidding and execution
  • Working command of pipeline and facility scopes across mechanical, civil, CP/AC mitigation, and electrical and instrumentation disciplines
  • Practical, hands-on experience with pipeline construction agreements, change order negotiation, and subcontract administration
  • Fluency with project controls, including budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, and progress reporting
  • Experience supporting estimating and bid development on construction work
  • A valid driver's license

Preferred Skills / Qualifications
  • Post-Secondary education in engineering, construction management, business, or a related discipline (or equivalent construction experience)
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience with diverse pipeline projects or multi-year integrity programs
  • Familiarity with earned value management and formal project governance frameworks
  • Experience delivering work under master service agreements for major midstream or transmission operators

Benefits

We offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that includes a complete range of employee benefits to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing, including a valuable RRSP matching program, company vehicle or vehicle allowance, professional development and certification reimbursement (including support toward PMP and P.Eng. designations), and an Employee and Family Assistance Program.
