Job Description

SStantec's Management & Technology Consulting team is seeking a hands-on, Canada-based Project Delivery & Consulting Specialist to help utilities, local governments, infrastructure owners, and other capital-intensive organizations in the United States (U.S.) and Canada plan, organize, manage, and deliver projects across a range of consulting, technology, infrastructure, operational improvement, and asset management assignments.

This external client-facing position is centered on practical project execution and delivery, with a strategic expectation to help expand, grow, and deliver strategic consulting services for Canadian and U.S. clients. The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day project delivery, including scope management, task planning, schedule coordination, budget tracking, risk and issue management, quality reviews, client communications, team coordination, meeting facilitation, action item follow-up, and deliverable completion. The role may support asset management advisory, lifecycle planning, data analysis, business process improvement, EAM/CMMS strategy, stakeholder engagement, implementation, organizational assessments, technology enablement, capital planning, program management, and other management consulting assignments.

The Project Delivery & Consulting Specialist will lead or support multidisciplinary engagements across water, wastewater, transportation, facilities, energy, industrial, and other infrastructure sectors in both U.S. and Canadian markets. Assignments may include developing work plans, coordinating staff and subject matter experts, maintaining schedules and budgets, preparing agendas and meeting notes, tracking decisions and action items, managing risks and changes, overseeing quality reviews, and supporting implementation of strategies, policies, process improvements, data governance enhancements, technology initiatives, capital and maintenance plans, service delivery improvements, and asset management programs.

The ideal candidate is a practical, organized, and responsive project manager who enjoys driving work forward, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, maintaining accountability, managing client expectations, communicating clearly, resolving issues, and ensuring that strategies and recommendations are translated into usable tools, implemented processes, and completed deliverables.

This position is intended to strengthen delivery capacity across Stantec's North American consulting practice by adding Canadian project management presence, supporting active U.S. engagements, building relationships with Canadian teams and clients, helping identify and shape new opportunities, supporting pursuits, and converting Canadian market opportunities into successfully delivered projects across asset management, technology, operational improvement, infrastructure planning, and related advisory services.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Serve in an external client-facing consulting role and build trusted relationships with utility, government, infrastructure, facility, developer, and industrial clients.
  • Support active U.S. project management and consulting engagements while developing the relationships, market understanding, delivery approaches, and client confidence needed to grow similar work across Canada.
  • Develop project work plans, delivery approaches, governance routines, assessment plans, strategic planning activities, workshops, performance measure development, and improvement roadmap tasks across asset management, technology, process improvement, organizational assessment, program delivery, and related consulting assignments.
  • Plan and facilitate executive interviews, stakeholder workshops, discovery sessions, field and operational discussions, and cross-functional working sessions to understand client needs and build alignment.
  • Coordinate assessments of project delivery, organizational, operational, technology, data, governance, risk, finance, asset management, capital planning, and implementation capabilities, including tracking information requests, interview findings, workshop outcomes, and follow-up actions.
  • Apply recognized asset management principles and standards, including ISO 55000 and relevant industry guidance, to develop solutions appropriate to each client's objectives and operating environment.
  • Prepare clear, decision-ready recommendations and deliverables for executives, governing bodies, technical teams, operations staff, regulators, agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop or evaluate asset inventories, classification structures, asset hierarchies, data standards, condition rating approaches, and asset information requirements.
  • Lead or support condition, performance, criticality, likelihood-of-failure, consequence-of-failure, and risk analyses to inform maintenance, rehabilitation, replacement, and renewal decisions.
  • Develop lifecycle management strategies that consider service, risk, cost, performance, resilience, sustainability, and practical delivery constraints.
  • Integrate asset management analysis with capital improvement planning, renewal and replacement programs, maintenance strategies, financial forecasts, and funding priorities.
  • Use asset and operational data to develop scenarios, decision criteria, prioritization models, dashboards, KPIs, and business cases that support transparent investment decisions.
  • Evaluate repair, refurbish, replace, and defer alternatives and communicate the implications of each option to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Assess and improve asset lifecycle business processes, including asset handover, inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, work planning and scheduling, inventory, failure reporting, and capital delivery.
  • Support EAM and CMMS planning, selection, implementation, optimization, and adoption, including requirements definition, asset hierarchy design, data readiness, work process development, KPI design, testing, training, and post-implementation support.
  • Advise clients on asset data governance, data quality, ownership, stewardship, integration, and reporting to improve confidence in asset information and support data-based decision-making.
  • Analyze large asset, condition, performance, work history, cost, and financial datasets using appropriate tools and methods.
  • Create process maps, future-state workflows, decision frameworks, data models, dashboards, guidance documents, and practical tools that enable implementation and sustained use.
  • Apply structured change management practices to engage stakeholders, assess impacts, address resistance, support readiness, and reinforce new asset management practices and systems.
  • Lead or support requirements gathering, business process documentation, functional and technical requirements, data migration and integration planning, user acceptance and end-to-end testing, training development, rollout planning, and go-live readiness.
  • Serve as the day-to-day project manager or workstream lead for client assignments, moving work from initiation and planning through execution, monitoring, control, implementation, transition, and closeout.
  • Build and manage project scopes, work breakdown structures, task lists, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, deliverable registers, quality review plans, risk and issue logs, decision logs, change controls, and communication plans.
  • Lead recurring project meetings, prepare agendas and meeting notes, confirm decisions, assign and track action items, maintain accountability across the team, and follow up with clients, partners, vendors, and internal project staff.
  • Monitor project progress against scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations; identify variances early; recommend corrective actions; and help keep project delivery on track.
  • Resolve day-to-day delivery issues where possible and proactively elevate risks, dependencies, scope changes, resource constraints, client decisions, and quality concerns that require project leadership attention.
  • Prepare clear project status reports, budget updates, action registers, change logs, readiness trackers, client communications, and delivery dashboards that support transparency and timely decision-making.
  • Support successful delivery by coordinating internal quality reviews, incorporating comments, finalizing deliverables, documenting lessons learned, and confirming closeout requirements are completed.
  • Support Canadian business development by helping identify target clients, understand utility and infrastructure market needs, define client problems, and translate project management, technology, operational improvement, asset management, and infrastructure planning challenges into compelling, practical consulting solutions.
  • Lead or contribute to Canadian and U.S. requests for qualifications, requests for proposals, presentations, demonstrations, statements of work, scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, pricing inputs, and other pursuit materials.
  • Maintain and grow client relationships, particularly in Canada, by supporting account planning, participating in client meetings, following up on leads, identifying near-term opportunities, and connecting client needs with MTC and broader Stantec capabilities.
  • Help build the Canadian consulting pipeline by collaborating with Canadian business leaders, local account managers, technical teams, and Stantec's broader North American practice to identify prospects, qualify opportunities, position services, and develop win strategies across asset management, technology, operational improvement, infrastructure planning, and related advisory work.
  • Contribute to Canadian market visibility through targeted outreach, client presentations, lunch-and-learns, conferences, speaking engagements, professional association involvement, thought leadership, and industry stewardship activities.
  • Adapt proven U.S. project delivery approaches, tools, case studies, and qualifications to Canadian client needs, procurement expectations, regulatory environments, funding programs, and local market conditions.
  • Support pursuit capture and proposal development by preparing client-ready project descriptions, resumes, approach narratives, differentiators, value propositions, fee assumptions, schedules, and presentation materials for Canadian opportunities.
  • Track Canadian business development activity, including target accounts, opportunity status, next steps, pursuit responsibilities, client follow-ups, and lessons learned, to help create an organized and repeatable approach to market growth.
  • Use delivery performance on U.S. projects to develop credibility, transferable qualifications, and internal confidence that support expansion of asset management and project management services in Canada.
