Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector has an opening for a Project Management position, this position can be filled with either a level 2 or a level 3 (Principal) depending upon the education and experience of the candidate.

The position will be based in our San Diego, CA office

Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

This individual contributor position is for the role of a Program Integrator. The selected candidate will be part of a diverse organization of project integrators within the Program Operations Homeroom. The candidate is responsible to oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects and team operations. This individual contributor will work side by side with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead on program reporting, metrics generation, and special projects.

The candidate should have an understanding of program management and they should adhere to NG processes and apply them to working internal projects. They should have knowledge of industry practices and standards and demonstrate the skill and ability to perform professional tasks. This individual should possess leadership and team building capabilities and have strong interpersonal skills. Must possess solid organization abilities and be a motivated, flexible team player. Some travel may be required.

Responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):
  • Assess project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and satisfaction goals and objectives
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and reporting status
  • Assess project issues, and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality and customer satisfaction goals and objectives
  • Development, implementation, and maintenance of tools/templates for monitoring project progress
  • Preparation of status reports and presentations for NGC internal and Customer meetings
  • Conducting thorough risk & opportunity management practices including identification, mitigation and realization
  • Managing Government/customer supplied property or information (GFE, CFE, etc.)
  • Understanding of proposal process from request for proposal (RFP) through contract award


Basic Qualifications Level 2:
  • 2 years of related professional/military experience with Bachelor's degree to include a background of project management, program management, contracts, program operations, business management, or budgeting; OR a Master's degree project management, program management, contracts, program operations, business management, or budgeting
  • Skillful with Microsoft Office tool suite; the ability to create, manage, and manipulate the tools, especially PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance


Basic Qualifications Level 3:
  • 5 years of related professional/military experience with Bachelor's degree to include a background of project management, program management, contracts, program operations, business management, or budgeting; OR 3 years of related professional/military experience with Master's degree to include a background of project management, program management, contracts, program operations, business management, or budgeting;


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven success managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with interfacing with all levels of employees and Leadership
  • Understanding of the Integrated Management Framework (IMF)
  • 10+ years' experience in Project management, Proposal management, Program Integration/Execution
  • Master's Degree from an accredited university
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles and experience utilizing them professionally
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or similar
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including presentation skills to senior leadership
  • The ability to effectively manage both cultural differences and ways of doing business in countries other than the United States; while ensuring that items, commodities and technologies entering or leaving the United States do so within the proper US legal and regulatory framework.
  • Aerospace and/or Defense Industry Experience
  • Experience working in technical engineering environment
  • Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Experience


Primary Level Salary Range: $75,800.00 - $113,800.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
