Description:

As a Project Manager Segment Lead within the Business Banking Project Management Office, you will provide leadership and direction for a portfolio of initiatives aligned to an assigned business segment. You will partner with senior leaders and cross-functional teams across Product, Digital, Technology, Operations, Controls, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Sales, and Change Readiness to prioritize high-impact work, assign project management resources, and maintain accountability for delivery performance and business outcomes. You will lead and develop project managers, reinforce consistent adoption of Project Management Office (PMO) methodologies, tools, Project Management artifacts, and ensure clear governance, transparent reporting, timely escalation, and effective resolution of portfolio risks and issues. Success in this role requires executive presence, strong business acumen, disciplined execution, sound judgment, and the ability to influence across organizational boundaries while advancing continuous improvement and innovation within the PMO.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the assigned Business Banking segment portfolio, translating priorities into executable initiatives, measurable outcomes, and clear accountability.
  • Oversee demand intake, prioritization, resource assignments, capacity, dependencies, and the appropriate PMO engagement model.
  • Maintain accountability for project delivery, governance, operational readiness, and timely resolution or escalation of portfolio risks, issues, and decisions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop project managers while reinforcing consistent use of PMO methodologies, tools, artifacts, and delivery standards.
  • Build trusted partnerships with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to align priorities, resolve barriers, and support business outcomes.
  • Provide clear, accurate, and transparent executive reporting on portfolio progress, outcomes, risks, dependencies, and decisions.
  • Champion a high-performance culture, stakeholder feedback, continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, automation, and Artificial Intelligence enabled delivery practices.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Extensive experience leading complex, cross-functional projects, programs, or portfolios in financial services or another regulated environment.
  • Proven ability to translate business priorities into executable portfolio plans, prioritize demand, align resources, and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated leadership and development of project management professionals, including coaching, performance management, and talent planning.
  • Strong command of project and program management, governance, delivery controls, and risk, issue, dependency, and change management.
  • Executive-level communication, relationship management, and influencing skills, with success partnering across senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity, exercise sound judgment, resolve barriers, and drive accountability across a complex matrix organization.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Business Banking products, client segments, operations, and the regulatory and control environment.
  • Experience leading a segment-aligned PMO or enterprise portfolio, including intake, resource allocation, governance, and executive reporting.
  • Demonstrated success standardizing PMO methodologies, tools, delivery controls, metrics, and continuous-improvement practices.
  • Knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery approaches, with experience using automation, AI, and digital tools to improve delivery insight and productivity.
  • Project or program management certification, such as Project management Professional (PMP) or an equivalent credential.
