Full Job Description
The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Project Lead to join our Projects team at Coleman Mine in Sudbury. The role is a permanent on-site positionThis posting is for an existing position vacancy.

In this role you will lead projects including the management of all activities from FEL 1 studies through execution and handover to the Project Owner. This includes management of detailed engineering design, procurement, (Safety, Scope, Schedule, Quality, Cost), systems, construction support and management services for individual Projects. This is a permanent position.

Additionally, in this position you will:
  • The candidate will have primarily electrical and some mechanical experience in an underground environment.
  • The incumbent will execute work using project management framework in a streamlined and effective manner.
  • The incumbent will work in partnership with respective Coleman team members, operations and support areas (reliability, engineering, environmental, legal, procurement etc.) to ensure efficient and safe execution of scope, schedule, budget and quality.
  • The incumbent will assist in the requisitioning of parts & services associated with the Project, and if required to create work orders, operations and manage the Schedule associated with Project and Shutdown work. This includes collaborating with the integrated mine planning team to ensure work is integrated into the 7/21 schedule and major events calendar.
  • The incumbent if need be will work with Site teams to create the Master Schedule for the Plant shutdowns.
  • Execute approved Capital, Operating, and Period/Shutdown projects including related commissioning/ops readiness.
  • Successful candidates will be assigned to the Coleman Mine plant location.

About You

Education:
  • The ideal candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in engineering, however, candidates with a Technical or trades discipline will be considered.
  • The ideal candidate should be a certified P.M.P (Project Management Professional).


Experience:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in an underground role is required.
  • The ideal candidate will have preferred knowledge and understanding of VPS Technical, project management principles and strategies and strong project management skills.
  • Front line supervisory capability and experience is preferred but not required.


Skills:
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills
  • Comfortable working with computers, specifically Microsoft applications
  • Solid knowledge and appreciation for Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Ability to evaluate the workforce, direct and mentor staff and contractors where necessary
  • Ability to coordinate training requirements for employees and contractors
