Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems sector is seeking a PrincipalProject Manager to support Amherst Systems in Buffalo, NY. This onsite role supports Program Managers and Integrated Program Teams (IPTs) across complex engineering programs and is ideal for individuals looking to grow into full program management responsibilities.

What You Will Get To Do:

Program Execution Support

  • Support Program Manager(s) across all phases of the program life cycle, from proposal support through execution and closeout

  • Collaborate with scope owners (engineering, operations, supply chain, finance, etc.) to track and assess scope closeout, burndown plans, and key performance metrics

  • Assist with development and maintenance of integrated master schedules and supporting plans

  • Track open liabilities and communicate progress, risks, and objective‑evidence needs with program leadership and, as appropriate, the customer

  • Maintain organized records of official customer correspondence and ensure timely distribution to the appropriate team members

Metrics, Reporting, and Reviews

  • Collect and organize program data to support cost, schedule, and technical performance reporting

  • Assist program leadership in creating program status materials (charts, tables, dashboards) for internal and customer reviews

  • Support measurement and reporting of program performance using established methodologies and tools (e.g., EVM or similar cost/schedule control methods) under guidance from Program Management and Business Management

  • Prepare and maintain action item lists, meeting minutes, and follow‑up trackers

Risk, Change, and Coordination

  • Support identification, documentation, and tracking of program risks and opportunities, including mitigation and realization activities

  • Help ensure the team understands current contract scope by maintaining change logs and supporting internal control/board activities

  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, supply chain, and other functions to surface execution issues early and track supplier performance against program needs

  • Assist in tracking government/customer‑supplied property or information (e.g., GFE, CFE) under direction of program leadership

Customer and Business Support

  • Support Program Managers in preparing for customer and executive reviews by consolidating inputs and developing presentations

  • Participate in customer meetings as appropriate, providing note‑taking, action tracking, and follow‑up support

  • Support capture and proposal efforts by coordinating functional inputs, helping develop schedules, and compiling review materials and proposal content

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience (e.g., project management, program support, engineering, operations, finance, or related), or Master's degree with 3years of relevant experience (e.g., project management, program support, engineering, operations, finance, or related). We will also consider 9 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Experience working on large or complex programs or projects, preferably in an engineering or technical environment.

  • Experience working with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; familiarity with scheduling or project management tools is a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers and/or project management in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries

  • Experience using SAP.

  • Exposure to or working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) or similar cost/schedule control methods

  • Experience supporting cross‑functional teams or IPTs to achieve cost, schedule, and technical objective

  • Background in metrics and reporting in an engineering‑based environment

  • Experience with development, production, or sustainment programs, and/or familiarity with Electronic Warfare systems.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.

Primary Level Salary Range: $85,600.00 - $128,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
