Role Overview:The Project Geologist - Regional Exploration main responsibilities include overseeing the regional exploration programs related to early-stage field work, contractor management and drilling activities. The role should focus on tactical planning, safe execution and data interpretation. A strong geological background in VMS-style deposit will help the candidate to improve exploration targeting, potentially leading to the discovery of the next Rainy River deposit.
Responsibilities- Supervise and execute the regional exploration programs, including but not limited to, mapping, soil sampling, drill rig supervision, core logging, managing field logistics, collection of geological data, and evaluation of results
- Ensure that all regional exploration activities, including contractor work, are consistent with the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety policies and practices
- Participate in exploration program planning based on target ranking and ensure that programs are in line with Life of Mine strategy
- Compile, manage, and interpretation of geological data from exploration programs including diamond drilling, mapping, geophysics, and surface sampling.
- Develop regional and deposit-scale geological models as exploration progresses (lithology, structure, alteration, and mineralization)
- Assist the Exploration Manager with all reporting requirements to government and other stakeholders
- Other related duties to support the Exploration team as required
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience- A minimum bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Science; Post-graduate degree, an asset
- Registered or eligible to register as a P. Geo in Ontario, Canada
- Minimum of 5 years of combined experience in mineral exploration, with additional mine site exploration or production geology experience being an asset
- Familiar with the fundamentals of exploration: mapping (field and pit), prospecting, soil sampling, drilling and logging (RC / DDH)
- Experience in managing field logistics, supplies and contractors
- Extensive knowledge of VMS-style deposit and previous exposure to regional-scale target generation
- Competence in GIS and geological modelling software; Leapfrog and ArcGIS, an asset
- Open to receiving mentorship and learning new concepts and methods to increase skillset and grow as a geologist
- Strong problem-solving, leadership, analytical and organizational skills
- A demonstrated commitment to safety, environment, and community
CompensationThe anticipated salary range for this position will be between $110,000.00 - $115,000.00.
