Location: Calgary, AB (Calgary Office with periodic travel to the Lloydminster facility)

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (40 hrs/week)

Department: Engineering | Classification: Full-time, Salaried

Position Summary

We are seeking a Project Estimator based in Calgary, AB to lead our bidding process from start to finish. You will source opportunities, build cost models, and draft winning technical proposals for projects.

In addition to estimating, you will analyze internal cost data to track real-time project profitability across all manufacturing departments, using modern software and AI tools to optimize bidding accuracy. This role includes client engagement in downtown Calgary and periodic trips to our Lloydminster facility to align with production teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Source, track, and manage RFP/RFQ opportunities; analyze drawings, material take-offs, labor, and component pricing to generate accurate project cost models on tight deadlines.
  • Draft, review, and submit comprehensive proposals, technical bid packages, and detailed reports for prospective clients.
  • Mine ERP data to analyze actual vs. estimated project costs across all shop departments, identifying cost trends, variances, and profit margins.
  • Leverage AI tools and software automation to streamline estimating workflows and accelerate proposal turnaround times.
  • Represent Upstream Data in Calgary client meetings, and make periodic site visits to the Lloydminster shop to review production constraints.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Professional experience in project costing, estimating, and proposal drafting within manufacturing, fabrication, or oil & gas.
  • Engineering degree or Engineering Technologist (CET) designation is a strong asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in data mining, trend recognition, Excel modeling, and ERP database systems.
  • Demonstrated skill or aptitude in using AI tools for process optimization and workflow automation.
  • Strong technical report writing skills with the ability to translate complex specs into clear, persuasive bids.
  • Based in Calgary with a valid Driver's License for periodic visits to Lloydminster.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada (no sponsorship available).
