Overview

Reporting functionally to the Director of Retube Tooling, the Project Engineering Manager - Retube Tooling would support one of the major Refurbishment projects and work daily under the established project organization. The Project Engineering Manager will support the execution of design and technical activities in a site project delivery environment in accordance with industry standards and established governance and will be responsible for assigned aspects of site related tooling, and construction delivery refurbishment tools. This leader will be responsible for a multidiscipline team of Retube Tooling individuals executing commercial and internal work packages and projects.

Your role

  • Manages the size and composition of the team resources, including reporting structures, in support of the project needs.
  • Provides clear expectations and performance measures, meaningful feedback, recognizes and rewards achievements, and takes disciplinary steps when warranted.
  • Ensures all project training and qualifications records are up-to-date, and required training and qualifications are completed/updated on time.
  • Establishes the technical approach to achieve project requirements and ensures the design satisfies these requirements.
  • Ensures that the final deliverables from their team meet customer requirements specified in the contract and overall alignment with nuclear codes and standards.
  • Removes barriers that would impact deliverables to meet project requirements and priorities, working with the assigned staff to find solutions and optimizations.
  • Interfaces with clients and successfully delivers engineering products in accordance with customer specifications and requirements.
  • Responsible for human resource issues and effectively managing and resolving employee issues.
  • Approves technical documents prepared by staff reporting to them.
  • Plans and executes work consistent with quality, cost and schedule requirements.
  • Fosters a team environment and team building within Engineering and with internal and external customers.
  • Accountable for performance review processes and provides feedback on the performance of staff reporting to this role.


About you

  • University degree in an applicable field of engineering or science.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive nuclear experience in a discipline and field of application relevant to the work being managed, including experience leading technical teams.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario and member in good standing or eligible to obtain such registration within 6 months of hiring.
  • Experience in executing projects that are subject to import/export controls.
  • Experience in Nuclear Refurbishment tooling and construction projects required.
  • Experience managing tooling work with interfacing requirements involving other engineering teams (Mechanical, Electrical, Human Factors etc.), Procurement, Quality Assurance, Contracts, and Construction.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex and parallel technical projects would be an asset.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills in the development of team members and support staff.
  • Excellent clients focus and conflict resolution skills.
  • Willing to travel to and potentially work at Project sites to meet corporate needs.
