Full Job Description

This is a union position - also Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.

Role and Scope of Position:
Plans, coordinates, and monitors performance of project design activities for Distribution Engineering. Directly responsible for the design of multiple and/or large complex overhead and underground electric distribution projects including line relocations to facilitate state and municipal roadway and bridge reconstruction, third party attachments, reliability improvements, asset replacements and capital programs.
Coordinates with Engineering, Operations, internal stakeholders, external vendors and permitting authorities to support projects from concept through detailed design, permitting and construction readiness in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Provides technical guidance related to electric distribution design, ensuring safe, compliant, constructible and cost-effective solutions. Utilizes enterprise tools and work management systems to develop and manage design deliverables.
Acts as company representative to internal workforces and external contractors engaged in the construction of distribution facilities, supporting alignment between design intent and field execution.
Responsible for assigned project deliverables, including tracking of budget, schedule and performance, and supporting overall project execution.

Essential Functions:
Responsible for project management to ensure complex work is completed on time; designs, plans, allocates and coordinates all resources relevant to a project, including budget, staffing and materials; identifies and monitors projects requiring performance improvements and recommends adjustments to keep on track.
Responsible for project design including coordination of materials, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders for local, state and environmental permitting, rights, easements and petitions in accordance with company processes, policies and standards.
Performs field visits and site assessments to verify existing conditions and support accurate design development.
Interfaces with appropriate departments to ensure the proper design and efficient construction of distribution projects.
Establishes a course of action for self and/or others to accomplish goals; plans proper assignments of personnel and appropriate allocation of resources.
Serves as liaison with internal and external customers (i.e., company employees, customers, town/city and state officials); anticipates customer needs; gives high priority to customer satisfaction; communicates Eversource's requirements for electric service installation.
Recommends changes to construction methods, standards, and the electric system.
• Performs detailed overhead and underground electric distribution design, including preparation of drawings, calculations, material requirements and work packages, in accordance with company standards.

Participates in weekly AWC Planning and Scheduling meetings to coordinate project requirements for both customer and annual projects job types with the Resource Planner and the local scheduler.
• Monitors and guides work group in achieving established department and corporate goals.
• May assist with training other Designers.
• Can assist with emergent work as needed.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and codes (National Electric Safety Code) and design construction standards and regulations
Working Knowledge of construction methods and procedures. Knowledge of energy delivery power systems.
The ability to learn and utilize available information technologies
Understanding of pole loading analysis, including the ability to interpret and validate results using tools such as Pole Foreman.
Has achieved technical and professional skills/knowledge in job-related areas
Keep abreast of current trends and develops in area(s) of expertise
Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word and Excel)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of National Electric Code

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, or comparable field of study plus successful completion of TMP or bachelor's degree in engineering or comparable field of study plus five (5) years of related experience
OR
Eight (8) years of the equivalent in combined education and related experience.

Licenses & Certifications:
Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
Electrical License preferred

Working Conditions:
• Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
• Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
• Position requires work in an office environment, at customer locations, on construction sites and in the field opening various electrical equipment.
• Requires the use of company provided PPE (Personal Protective Equipment.

Bargaining unit employees within the Grey Book with contractual rights to this position will be given first consideration. The salary range for this position starts at $59.61 an hour and progresses in accordance with the union contract. Please visit our career site for an overview of benefits.
