The Opportunity: Project Engineer
The Port of Virginia - Virginia Port Authority is seeking a Project Engineer to manage construction and engineering projects for the Virginia Port Authority and Virginia international Terminals.
What You'll Do: Responsibilities
- Implement solutions that maximize safe operations at all Port of Virginia facilities.
- Contribute to the execution of strategic initiatives to ensure the competitiveness of the Port of Virginia.
- Provide support to operations to ensure all business case goals associated with projects are achieved quickly and reliably.
- Oversee field-related operations associated with construction management. Determine and coordinate materials and equipment.
- Gather required information to evaluate objectives, goals, and scope to create specifications.
- Participate in the creation and evaluation of project design alternatives.
- Ensure all targets and requirements are met and projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Communicate project status in a timely accurate manner, while providing input to the mitigation of all current and future risks. This includes keeping project stakeholders aware of issues that may impact project schedule or cost.
- Contribute to a team-based culture to ensure the smooth operation of the group, its projects, and the operational goals of the Port of Virginia.
- Maintain and actively participate in self-development and on-going training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- The Port of Virginia is a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week, 365-day-a-year operation, schedule and location may vary based on the needs of the operation.
Who You Are: Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The Ideal candidate demonstrates a high level of knowledge in project management methodologies and a proven, well-rounded grasp of their engineering discipline. They bring strong proficiency in AutoCAD and maintain a firm understanding of all applicable state and local construction rules and regulations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, with the ability to prioritize work effectively and report on progress, while also showing an active interest in further developing both civil engineering and construction management skills to support ongoing professional growth and project success. EducationBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's Degree is preferred
Licenses, Certifications, and CredentialsValid driver's license; Transportation Worker Identification Credential; Licensed Professional Engineer.
Work Experience10 or more years of related experience required.
