WHAT WE WILL EXPECT FROM YOUThe Project Engineer will lead and coordinate plant projects including feasibility, scope, development, and execution in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner. The role will work closely with cross-functional teams to improve plant reliability by addressing failure areas with projects and equipment upgrades, assist in optimizing planned turnarounds, and play a key part in envisioning, strategizing, and developing a plan to support the future of the site. This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager.
Essential Functions of the Job:- Develop project execution plans and communicate the project plan to cross-functional teams.
- Lead and coordinate the development of projects including the profitable, reliable and on-time launch of projects.
- Develop project documentation and financial requests based on cost estimates, schedules, and ROI proposals for approval.
Responsibilities:- Build technical bid packages for use in estimating project costs and execute projects within budget.
- Manage project costs to the approved budgeted amount and manage changes through the formal change order process.
- Develop project controls, prepare, and review equipment specifications, manage procurement needs and start up plans for projects.
- Ability to lead and resolve technical discussions and presentations including design reviews and technical meetings with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Develop strong working relationships along the manufacturing and engineering continuum and other key functional units.
- Facilitate root-cause analysis and provide engineering support to trouble shoot and identify solutions to resolve technical problems.
- Knowledge of project management guidelines and their applications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering, required
- MBA or Graduate Engineering Degree, preferred
- Plant level experience in one of the following industries required--Ethanol, Chemical, Refining Industry (involving distillation) or Agricultural processing
- 5+ years of project management experience in an industrial setting
- Chemical unit operations
- High technical proficiency including MS Office, and CAD
- General understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, blueprints, electrical schematics, PLC's, and chemicals
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions including operating manuals, procedures, and policies
- Strong organizational competencies and an attention to detail
- Manage priorities under pressure
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:- Must wear and maintain company required Personal Protective Equipment including, but not limited to: FR pants/ long-sleeve shirt, safety glasses, hard hat, safety-toe boots, hearing protection, and gloves
- Physically able to perform the following job essential functions, inclusive of but not limited to: crouching, kneeling, bending, walking long distances, lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying up to 50 pounds, work at heights, continuous work in confined spaces, ascend/ descend/ work from: stairs/ladders/scaffolding.
- Must have the ability to work continuously in an environment inclusive of but not limited to: dust, loud noise(s), walk on uneven or slippery surfaces, outdoors, heat/cold, poorly illuminated areas.
