Your Opportunity

Stantec is in search of Project Engineer-Structures to work independently on small projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance of a senior engineer. The Project Engineer-Structures will be able to evaluate systems and complete designs within the parameters established by their senior engineer. Additional responsibilities include:

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Independently complete calculations and drawings for small projects
  • Development of job specific specifications independently for less complex projects
  • Participates in the coordination with architectural, interior, and other engineering disciplines for coordination of the project
  • Independently perform construction administration duties including completing field observations report, responding to RFI's, submittal reviews, and evaluating contractor change orders.
  • Perform calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
  • Communicate design issues with their senior engineer and with the design team.
  • Understand industry standard design processes and understanding of construction means and methods.
  • Work within project scope, budgets, and design approach to deliver projects to clients on time, on budget, and at a high level of client service.
  • Assist with development of design standards

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Requisite knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes
  • Strong knowledge of structural systems, seismic design, construction means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form concepts and ideas to a diverse audience of Architects, Engineers, and Owner clients effectively.
  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively both independently and in team settings.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelors' degree in Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 2 years related professional experience preferred but not required; or equivalent combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated skills.
  • Professional Engineering License is required
  • Experience with modeling software (Autodesk Revit)
  • Experience with general business software (Microsoft Office suite)
  • Experience with industry standard Structural Engineering software (CSI, RISA, RAM, etc.)
