This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Engineer (PE) for our Power Delivery team in Billings, MT. This position is posted in multiple office locations with the ability to work remotely from a mutually acceptable location (Seattle, WA; Denver, CO; Charlotte, NC; Houston, TX; Phoenix, AZ or Freeport, ME). Be involved in projects with our Electrical Studies, SCADA, and Protection Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
  • The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for working with our project management team, engineering teams, and directly with clients to manage business development among existing and new clients targeting NERC compliance services. Depending on candidate experience, responsibilities can include a mix of project engineering (technical team leadership), project management, or project execution (engineering).
  • Project Engineering includes leading others in the preparation of proposals and executing studies and providing engineering services for utility, renewable, and industrial/commercial electrical power transmission and distribution systems.
  • Project execution duties include the development of compliance studies and engineering documentation for compliance with relevant NERC standards.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Other responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
  • Promote company culture while managing internal and external relationships
  • Collaborate with other teams, business units, business developers and marketers
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to the project team
  • Develop & maintain schedules, lead/participate in project meetings with project teams, oversee budgets, participate in proposal preparation, take leading role in client relationships
  • This position will have travel, both locally to regional clients and for site visits generally within the US, however, there will be an emphasis on the use of modern connectivity to minimize travel


Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of relevant post education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for large capital projects.
  • Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
  • Three (3) + years' relevant project leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with NERC Reliability Standards across all Operations & Planning (O&P) and Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), including, but not limited to, CIP, EOP, FAC, MOD, PRC, TPL, and VAR. Experience executing or leading studies for one or more of these standards.
  • Familiarity with utilities, developers, operators, and renewable companies subject to NERC.
  • Relevant experience includes small- to medium-scale project lead engineering experience on projects.
  • Knowledge of substation and grid operation as they relate to the above listed.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Candidate must have good English verbal and written communication skills, be willing to travel and work successfully in a customer-focused, project-oriented environment.
  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
  • Experience in protective relaying, SCADA, substation communications, cybersecurity, transmission planning, or other studies is beneficial, but not required.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (Denver & Seattle): $134,700yr - $244,000yr

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
