Hatch is seeking a Project Engineer, Oil and Gas, to join our established team of professionals in Calgary. As the successful candidate, you are comfortable working in a fast-paced and professional project environment. You have a can-do attitude and are always on the lookout for ways to improve. You are able to create and execute project plans and you have the people and leadership skills necessary to create effective teams and build relationships with clients.

Key Responsibilities

As Project Engineer, Oil and Gas, you will assist the Project Manager in all PM functions and will:
  • Collaborate with engineering staff to successfully lead and deliver large-scale projects, on time, within budget and meeting both quality and safety guidelines;
  • Supervise and participate in the development and approval of design procedures;
  • Interface with other teams, project managers, engineers, clients, and vendors during all phases of a project to ensure that good working interfaces on both a department-to-department and individual-to-individual basis exist;
  • Participate in the resolution of conflicts affecting the achievement of deliverables on the projects;
  • Provide and approve employees' hour estimates for projects and track performance on projects;
  • Review, audit, and authenticate (as appropriate) the work of subordinate personnel, in accordance with the guidelines of the professional associations;
  • Provide a leadership role in quality management and continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Promote safe work practices and ensures assigned employees conduct their work in accordance with company safety policies; and
  • Participate in proposal presentations and business development activities.


Skills and Experience

  • Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) with APEGA;
  • 5-10 or years of project engineering or engineering management experience;
  • Experience managing the engineering, procurement, and construction of large-scale projects;
  • Experience in mid-stream projects such as tank terminals, pump stations, and custody transfer facilities would be a key asset;
  • Ability to generate and foster client relationships while working in a fast paced and competitive business environment;
  • Able to provide technical support and solutions to complex issues and challenges;
  • Solution driven and able to manage yourself and others well;
  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills necessary to build relationships with project teams and clients;
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop team members; and
  • Safety certificates such as WHMIS, Standard First Aid and H2S Alive would be an asset and may be required depending upon project.
