Full Job Description
PROJECT ENGINEER

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for a variety of day-to-day tasks related to the successful operation of the Project

Management department. Assist Project Manager and Superintendent in coordinating the activities of a project to ensure cost, schedule, and quality standards are met. Exercise independent judgment related to day-to-day administration of projects. Individuals at this level demonstrate a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving complex issues. Incumbents are generally able to work independently and determine solutions. Receives guidance on emphasis and approach while directing projects with discretion.

SKILLS:
  • Support the field; ensure personnel have all the tools, materials, equipment, and information they need to build the project.
  • Define problems, collect data, and draw logical conclusions; interpret and apply company best practices to resolve issues.
  • Lead efforts to implement job site safety procedures, notifications, signage, supplies, and equipment.
  • Lead efforts to manage submittals and job closeout documentation.
  • Assist Project Manager in verifying submittal conformity to specs.
  • Assist in the development of punch lists and the follow-up necessary to ensure timely completion of punch list work.
  • Assist Project Manager in issuing subcontracts, purchase orders and change orders.
  • Review daily reports and coordinate solutions for problems, such as work interferences and schedule difficulties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Monitor labor productions against budget and prepare summary reports at least twice per month.
  • Develop deep understanding and knowledge of the company accounting software to run reports, resolve job cost issues and do miscellaneous project research.
  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships with existing clients and assist the business development team with marketing efforts to acquire new clients and project opportunities.
  • Maintain document control, including reviewing, understanding, logging and distributing the following: Request for Information (RFI), Submittals, Addenda Log, Permit Log, Project Cost Reports, Change Proposals, Change Orders, Architect's Supplemental Instructions (ASI), Contract Close-out Documentation (i.e. close-out manual), Close Out Log
  • Work with Project Manager to effectively communicate with the Owner; coordinate team meetings; complete contract documents; and review consultant and contractor pay applications.
  • Work with the Project Manager and Superintendent in coordinating the work of each trade.
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions related to project scheduling.
  • Direct and organize project schedules, determine program objectives and requirements, develop standards and guidelines for project activities.


EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field or 2+ years of equivalent experience in drywall trade.
