Job Description

The Transportation Market Sector of AECOM is actively seeking a Project Engineer/Lead Inspectorfor immediately employment; the employee will be assigned to MDTA Projects in Baltimore and Harford counties, MD.

The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Construction Inspection, specific to roadway electrical items such as roadway lighting, communications, and viable message signage on highway construction projects. The employee can look forward to projects including various highway and bridge construction projects in Baltimore and Harford counties, MD. Provide guidance to contractor personnel on the proper use of Temporary Traffic Control devices/TTC standards.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Relies on extensive experience and independent judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Responsible for setting own project deadlines and managing multiple inspection assignments simultaneously
  • Provides on-the-job training to new employees and mentors junior inspection staff on electrical construction standards and best practices
  • Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing comprehensive inspection duties
  • Performs daily field inspections of electrical systems, roadway lighting, communications infrastructure, and variable message signage; maintains detailed inspection records and documentation
  • Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning activities for electrical systems and equipment installations
  • Tracks quality assurance progress and prepares progress reports for project management and stakeholders
  • Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers, ensuring all systems meet contractual and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinates with electrical contractors, subcontractors, and other trade inspectors to ensure proper installation and compliance with project specifications
  • Verifies electrical systems testing results and validates that all work meets applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements
  • Documents project activities through photographs, field notes, and inspection reports to maintain comprehensive project records


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED plus 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • U.S. Citizenship is required, due to the nature of the work
  • Experience on transportation-related projects, including roadways, bridges, rail, and tunnels

Preferred Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, Environmental, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or Construction Management
  • Must have good communication skills; oral and written
  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions; and work effectively with others.
  • Excellent time management skills; self-motivator, team oriented
