Job Summary
We are looking for a Project Engineer who will be responsible for developing, executing and controlling assigned projects to achieve plant goals. Through expert application of engineering techniques and principles, the candidate will conduct analyses and investigations supporting the  construction of new facilities and enhancements to existing machinery to optimize productive capability of the plant. We encourage the Project Engineer to make sound recommendations, considering such factors as safety, cost, schedule, maintainability, and materials and methods of construction. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, highly adaptive and capable of managing multiple engineering assignments.

Essential Duties

  • Lead and execute capital projects (modifications, improvements, new equipment) across the entire lifecycle, ensuring delivery meets scope, schedule, and budget requirements.

  • Define, design, and manage project installations, including preparing detailed design scopes, cost estimates, and capital expenditure justifications.

  • Drive continuous improvement by providing technical analysis of current best technologies and recommending process/equipment modifications.

  • Serve as the primary technical resource for design, detailed engineering, coordination, commissioning, and startup activities for both project and plant engineering initiatives.

  • Manage internal maintenance and external contractors during project execution and support new product/systems development.

  • Provide consistent plant engineering support to Production and Maintenance, leading troubleshooting efforts and serving as the primary resource for complex problem resolution.

  • Actively promote and enforce safety initiatives, policies, and best practices related to equipment operation and maintenance.


Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical)

  • 5+ years experience, preferably in manufacturing or roofing/building products.

  • Must be able to work as a multi-disciplinary project manager, supervise as a lead engineer, and provide expertise in maintenance, operations, and process management.

  • The ideal candidate will have a proven background in managing all project aspects within budget, scope, and downtime constraints.

  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD (or equivalent).

  • Knowledge of OSHA, general industry, and environmental compliance.

  • Proficient in written, verbal, and listening communication skills.

  • Advanced analytical and organizational skills with close attention to detail; able to plan, execute, and control multiple concurrent tasks.

  • Demonstrated technical problem-solving skills, including hands-on experience with contractors and/or internal maintenance.

  • Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Preferred engineering experience with integrated design environments (e.g., OEMs or consultant engineering).


Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability in capital project planning, development, and execution, including conceptual/detailed design, construction/installation coordination, training, turnover, commissioning support, and sustained ownership.

  • Application knowledge of standard manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures; preferred engineering experience in transferable manufacturing, OEM, or engineering design environments with continuous production equipment/process systems.

  • Advanced ability to read/interpret specifications and drawings.

  • Proficiency using root cause analysis and structured methods (e.g., Kepner-Trego) for troubleshooting.

  • Ability to translate technical data for operations and maintenance personnel.

  • Exposure to process hazard analysis and process safety management methodologies.

  • Advanced knowledge of multi-disciplinary engineering fundamentals.

Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications.

Base Salary Range: $104,000-$143,000
