Main Duties & Responsibilities
Summary:
PennAero is hiring a Project Engineer II at our RSA Engineered Products Company in Simi Valley, CA. RSA provides flight-critical components and assemblies for the commercial, defense and business jet markets. RSA designs and produces custom-engineered high pressure/high-temperature ducting assemblies for each customer's specific performance requirements. RSA's Peri-SealTM is one of the most sought after connectors in the aerospace industry. Additionally, RSA designs and produces flexible joints and hoses, ozone converters and many complex assemblies to meet stringent customer needs.
Job Summary:
As a direct report to the Engineering Director, the Project Engineer II shallbe responsible to plan, organize, implement and control a variety of activitiesrelated to engineering, research and development and design related to customerspecifications to ensure company business goals and customer requirements aremet within cost and on schedule. The Project Engineer II may have JuniorEngineers supporting them.
Projects will include, but are not limited to: New Product Development RSA IPdesigns, Build-to-Print, Design to Spec, and other relevant designactivities. The Design Engineering Manager shall be responsible to ensurethe completion of projects from the Request for Proposal (RFP) phase thruContract Award, Detailed Design, Design Validation/Certification, initialProduction, and sustaining engineering efforts.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Organize and schedule engineering activities to ensure they are completed onschedule and within cost.
Execution and generationof aircraft certification documentation that may include, but not limitedto: Design calculation reports, test procedures, test reports, 3Dmodeling, 2D engineering drawings, Engineering Orders, etc.
Peer review of detaileddesign activities including: manufacturing drawing review, stress analysis,project schedules, etc.
May require support of junior engineers.
Assure design compliance to customer requirements.
Schedule design reviews, meetings, and interdepartmental presentations toensure design points are understood and are concurrent with other organizationactivities.
Ability to take "hands on" approach.
Perform other duties as assigned

Work in a team environment.
This role is required to be on-site 5 days at the Simi Valley, CA location.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in ME, Physics, EE, Aeronautical Engineering or IE withpreference toward Mechanical Engineering. Advanced degreepreferred. Understanding of a broad range of engineering skills. Preferably inaircraft/aerospace design and structural analysis. Product developmentbackground necessary.
3 - 7+ years of experience in metallic or composite ducting and motioncompensator design per ARP 699 guidelines as Project / Systems Engineer, orequivalent experience in ECS (Environmental Control System), bleed air, or AMS(air management system) system or component design in the following industries:
Valves (pneumatic or electro mechanical)
Heat Exchangers
Turbo Machinery
Fuel Tank Inert Systems (FTIS, OBIGGS, OBOGGS, NGS, etc.)
Wing-Anti Ice Systems
Ram Air Systems
High Pressure or Low Pressure pneumatic systems
Structural design
Preferred to have experience with analysis tools such as FEA / FEM tools MSCNASTRAN / PATRAN, ANSYS, ATA NASTRAN / FEMAP
Experience with aircraft certification to EASA, Transport Canada, and/or FAA 14CFR FAR 25 requirements.
Experience from program award (kick-off) to Milestones such as: PDR (PreliminaryDesign Review), CDR (Critical Design Review), PRR (Production ReadinessReview), SOF (Safety of Flight), EIS (Entry-into-Service).
Understanding of the value of Project Management Skills with experience workingwith internal or external customers and resources.
Experience writing certification documentation, such as: ATP, QTP, QTR, etc.
Test experience per RTCA-DO/190 or MIL-STD-810 (vibration and environmentaltests).
Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to read / support the creation of 3D models and 2D drawings withdimensioning and tolerance per ANSI/ASME Y14.5 standards.
Support manufacturing team during the Product Development Phase (i.e. initialdesign for manufacturability and redesigns, as required during the developmentphase).
Thorough understanding of industry specifications, such as MIL, AN, MS, NAS,ASTM, AMS, etc.
Preferred experience with sheet metal and/or composite manufacturing / formingprocesses.
Preferred experience with CAD software (CATIA V5 or Solidworks).
Preferred test experience with LabVIEW data acquisition / control VIs.
25% or less travel.
Compensation
In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the expected pay range for this position is $90,000 - $130,000.
Compensation can vary depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for extra incentives like equity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses.
