TRICO Companies, LLC is seeking an experienced full-time Project Engineer I to join our team.

Position Summary

The Project Engineer I supports the successful execution of TRICO building projects by assisting with day to day project coordination and administrative functions. Working collaboratively with Project Managers and Superintendents, this role helps manage workflow activities across assigned projects to ensure work is organized, documented, and progressing as planned.

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, the Project Engineer I provides essential support in estimating and proposal preparation, contract generation, file management, invoicing, and basic accounting coordination. This role also assists with routine project tasks such as submittals, RFIs, meeting documentation, procurement tracking, and material coordination, following established TRICO processes and standards.

Through strong attention to detail, dependable follow through, and a willingness to learn, this role contributes to project performance, TRICO's long term profitability, and mission to Build Beyond the Building.

What You'll Do

Project Coordination, Execution & Controls
• Support project workflow and day to day coordination alongside Project Managers and Superintendents, keeping project files and documentation complete and organized.
• Assist with tracking RFIs and submittals, documenting meeting decisions and action items, and supporting punch list and closeout activities.

Scheduling & Planning Support
• Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with developing and maintaining project schedules, look ahead planning, and progress tracking.
• Support preconstruction and execution planning, including logistics coordination and sequencing support.

Estimating & Procurement Support
• Assist with bid packages, subcontractor and supplier outreach, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimate preparation.
• Support proposal development and procurement coordination to help ensure timely buyout and material purchasing.

Contracts & Financial Tracking
• Assist with drafting owner contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders under the direction of the Project Manager.
• Support cost tracking, invoice coding, change order documentation, and basic accounting coordination.

Safety
• Help prepare and maintain jobsite safety binders and required documentation, and support project specific safety plans.
• Assist with incident and near miss reporting and escalate safety concerns to the Project Manager or Superintendent.

Team Support & Development
• Provide regular feedback in WorkStory to support colleague and supervisor development.
• Model accountability, organization, and proactive communication consistent with TRICO expectations.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree or above in construction management, engineering, project management, accounting, or information technology.
• At least 12 months of experience working in a fast-paced project management support position.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Bluebeam, Autodesk Build, or similar construction project management software.
• Prior exposure to commercial or industrial construction project environments.

Work Environment / Physical Demand Requirements
• Required to climb, walk, stand, bend, or stoop for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, with regular exposure to hazardous materials, noise, fumes, dirt, dust, and cold.

Location

This position is based in Burlington, Washington, supporting assigned projects in the surrounding area.

Travel

This role may require occasional travel to active project sites as needed.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $36.06 to $41.83 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
