Position DescriptionJob Summary:The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the planning, design, and execution of engineering projects related to industrial material handling systems. This role ensures projects are completed safely, in compliance with applicable codes and standards, and delivered on schedule and within budget. The position bridges engineering, operations, and field execution to drive successful project outcomes.
Job Responsibilities:- Plan, coordinate, and execute engineering projects involving cranes, lifting devices, and material handling equipment.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans in collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
- Support installation, inspection, maintenance, and modernization efforts for existing and new equipment.
- Perform site visits to assess existing conditions, and monitor project progress, quality, and safety compliance.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and schematics to ensure accuracy and constructability.
- Prepare and manage technical documentation, including calculations, drawings, reports, and project records.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal departments to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and deliverables.
- Assist with procurement activities, including material selection, vendor evaluation, and cost control.
- Support design efforts by contributing to calculations, modeling, and detailing of mechanical/structural components and systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AISC, CMAA, AIST).
- Participate in project meetings and provide clear communication on status, risks, and technical considerations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, efficiency, and standardization.
- Support field activities as needed, including troubleshooting, commissioning, and client coordination.
- Maintain awareness of project financial performance and assist in managing scope changes.
Position RequirementsQualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in industrial, manufacturing, or material handling environments.
- Familiarity with project management principles (PMP certification a plus).
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software (Creo, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Strong understanding of mechanical fundamentals, including stress analysis, fatigue, and material behavior.
- Working knowledge of industry standards such as ASME, AISC, CMAA, and AIST.
- Experience with manufacturing and fabrication processes (welding, machining, assembly).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel within the United States as required.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working in both office and field settings, including industrial facilities.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to project challenges.
