ABOUT THE ROLEReports to: Director Operations Excellence & Engineering Delivery
Exergy is seeking a Project Engineer in Calgary, Alberta to, under the direction of project managers, to support small to medium scale projects from conceptual design all the way to fabrication with both project management and engineering responsibilities. The role involves planning, scheduling, forecasting, and managing the technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from start to finish The Project Engineer will work closely with project managers, engineers, technologists, technicians, trades, and other specialists to achieve project objectives, and they will communicate with clients, investors, and other project stakeholders. Additional responsibilities may include developing and executing research, experiments and test plans, as well as providing technology pilot commissioning support and operations.

The key responsibilities of this role are as follows:- Support the technical execution of engineering projects across the project lifecycle-from concept design through to detailed engineering and fabrication support
- Coordinate cross-disciplinary inputs (process, mechanical, electrical, etc.) to facilitate the completion of engineering deliverables
- Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor the activities and initiatives assigned
- Identify and document project risks, including technical, schedule, and cost uncertainty, and propose mitigation strategies
- Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications
- Interact daily with clients to interpret their requirements, determine the project needs and communicate how the objectives can be achieved
- Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, engineering deliverables) and report regularly on project status
- Support development of engineering services hours estimates and project schedules using staged-gate, waterfall, and agile process approaches
- Coordination and/or facilitation of key meetings or review points such as project kick-off meetings, P&IDs review, PHAs, constructability reviews, 3D model reviews, construction kick-off, etc. and following all action items through to completion
- Support development of fabrication estimates, equipment estimates and total installed cost estimates
- Assign responsibilities, provide activity oversight, provide guidance to project objectives, and mentor the project team
- Cooperate and communicate effectively with project manager and other project stakeholders to provide assistance and technical support
- Ensure procurement packages are produced in accordance with project cost, schedule and quality requirements
- Overseeing construction work and support the fabrication lead
- Such other reasonable duties as may be assigned by the Company from time to time.

Candidates for this position will possess the qualifications outlined below:
Minimum Requirements:- Proven working experience as a Project Engineer (5+ years of industry experience)
- Extensive knowledge of applicable ASME codes and standards for design, fabrication and construction of oil & gas facilities
- Knowledge of additional standards and regulations is beneficial: API, NACE, ASTM, CSA, ABSA
- Advanced MS Office Skills
- Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards
- Knowledge of engineering terms, design requirements, processes and document types
- Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team including process, mechanical, civil-structural, electrical & instrumentation
- Experience supporting the development of engineering deliverables for multiple disciplines mentioned above (PFD, PID, LDT, Shutdown Key, Control Narratives, Equipment Datasheets, fabrication details, etc.)
- Understanding of project controls, document control procedures, reporting and KPIs
- Ability to meet safety requirements at the production facility and while attending site visits
- Project management and supervision skills
- Decision making ability and leadership skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Applied Science
- APEGA Licensed Professional Engineer (P. Eng)
- Experience as a Project Engineer or Project Manager on multiple small to medium-scale engineering projects, spanning phases from conceptual design through detailed engineering, fabrication, and construction
