JOB TITLE: Project Engineer - Distribution Project Oversight

PAY RANGE: (Min-Mid)

Project Engineer I: $61,000 - $76,300

Project Engineer II: $74,700 - $93,400

Sr Project Engineer: $84,500 - $112, 600

Lead Project Engineer: $99,500 - $132,600

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Other hours as required)

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides technical oversight and coordination for large, complex capital, asset management, and priority customer projects. Works across multiple departments and external partners to support successful project delivery, evaluate technical risks, and ensure projects are executed in accordance with established standards, schedules, and business objectives.

Major Responsibilities
• Provide end-to-end oversight of assigned capital, asset management, and priority customer projects.
• Facilitate and support project kickoff, scope alignment, and readiness discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
• Drive project execution by identifying risks, removing barriers, and resolving issues that may impact schedule, budget, quality, or project objectives.
• Partner with Distribution Planning, Asset Management, Design, Construction, Operations, GIS, Supply Chain, Permitting, and external partners to support successful project delivery.
• Perform technical reviews and approvals of design packages, project deliverables, and contractor work products as assigned.
• Evaluate project readiness and identify design, constructability, operational, material, permitting, or resource risks that may impact execution.
• Review project scopes, schedules, and deliverables to verify completeness and readiness before progression to subsequent project phases.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned external engineering and design firms.
• Monitor contractor performance related to design quality, schedule adherence, responsiveness, and compliance with project expectations.
• Support contractor scorecards, KPI tracking, design quality evaluations, and quarterly business reviews.
• Participate in customer, contractor, municipal, and stakeholder meetings requiring technical support, project coordination, or issue resolution.
• Lead resolution of complex project issues requiring coordination among engineering, design, construction, operations, and external partners.
• Escalate project risks, contractor concerns, and resource constraints as necessary.
• Ensure timely completion of energization, as-built documentation, GIS updates, and project closeout requirements.
• Assist in developing project oversight processes, performance metrics, contractor expectations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Associate degree in Construction Science, Construction Technology, Engineering, or related field is required, 2+ years of experience is preferred. Preference given to candidates with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree (Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Science, Mechanical Engineering) from an ABET accredited University.

• Apply engineering principles, technical knowledge, and sound judgment to analyze complex systems and develop practical solutions to engineering problems.
• Provide technical assistance and support to engineers, project teams, and other stakeholders as needed.
• Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, creative thinking, and resourcefulness in addressing technical challenges.
• Apply technical expertise to promote a safe work environment and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Maintain knowledge of current developments, practices, and techniques related to assigned engineering and operational functions.
• Effectively support or lead projects to achieve technical objectives within established schedule and economic constraints.
• Serve as a knowledgeable technical representative of the Company when assigned.
• Effectively communicate technical information and influence project or system decisions, including modifications and additions to systems.

Licenses, Certification, Bonding, and/or Testing:

Valid driver's license required. Must have a safe driving history.

Working Conditions:

Most work is performed in an office with field work as necessary to perform the job. Occasional travel to other locations within the company may be required. Position requires work beyond normal working hours depending on workload, project deadlines, and service restoration efforts. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
