PAY RANGE: (Min-Mid)

Distribution Design Analyst I: $54,400 - $68,000

Distribution Design Analyst II: $66,600 - $83,200

Sr Distribution Design Analyst: $84,500 - $112,600

Lead Distribution Design Analyst: $99,500 - $132,600

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Other hours as required)

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides project coordination, reporting, and contractor support for capital, asset management, and customer-driven projects. Ensures projects remain visible, organized, and on track throughout the project lifecycle while supporting management of external engineering and design partners.

Major Responsibilities
• Support oversight of assigned projects from initiation through final closeout.
• Maintain project schedules, milestones, status reports, dashboards, and tracking tools.
• Track design progress, project readiness, permit status, material availability, and other project dependencies.
• Coordinate project assignments and workload distribution for external design partners.
• Monitor contractor workload, project status, deliverables, and milestone performance.
• Gather, maintain, and report contractor KPI data, scorecards, and performance metrics.
• Support quarterly business reviews by compiling contractor performance information, trends, and action items.
• Coordinate permit, easement, environmental, and other project approval activities.
• Maintain project documentation and verify required project records and deliverables are completed and properly retained.
• Support construction handoffs and project readiness reviews.
• Track energization, as-built completion, GIS updates, and project closeout activities.
• Identify schedule concerns, contractor issues, and project risks requiring escalation.
• Develop reports, dashboards, forecasts, and presentations that improve portfolio visibility and decision-making.
• Support development of project management processes, reporting tools, and performance metrics.

Education and Experience Requirements:

The candidate must have a High School Diploma, Associates degree or higher is preferred. Relevant experience with coordinating projects, tracking project deliverables, and supporting contractors or external engineering partners preferred.

• Strong project coordination, organization, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, schedules, milestones, dependencies, and competing priorities.
• Strong analytical skills with experience tracking and reporting project and contractor performance metrics.
• Ability to identify project risks, scheduling concerns, and performance issues and escalate appropriately.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience coordinating with contractors, vendors, cross-functional teams, and other project stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail with demonstrated ability to maintain accurate project documentation and records.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and project tracking/reporting tools.
• Ability to develop reports, dashboards, forecasts, and presentations to support business decision-making.
• Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to enhance project processes, reporting tools, and performance measures.

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:

Valid driver's license required. Must have a safe driving history.

Working Conditions:

Most work is performed in an office with field work as necessary to perform the job. Occasional travel to other locations within the company may be required. Position requires work beyond normal working hours depending on workload, project deadlines, and service restoration efforts. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.

In 2016, Great Plains and Westar Energy announced merger plans, but this proposed merger was rejected by Kansas Corporation Commission utility regulators as unfavorable to Kansas consumers. A new merger plan with Westar was announced in 2017. As of May 24, 2018, this merger has been approved by both the Missouri Public Service Commission and Kansas regulators, with the combined company to be named Evergy.
