Responsibilities

  • Design underground construction projects and present to stakeholders for approval.
  • Prepare detailed technical drawings for construction.

  • Coordinate multi-department projects ensuring stakeholder engagement.
  • Conduct site follow-ups for quality and cost control.
  • Perform site inspections to prepare for future projects.
  • Design and implement mine dewatering systems.
  • Maintain bi-weekly construction schedules and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Manage project budgets and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with contractor selection and manage on-site contractors.
  • Coordinate material supply and off-site fabrication.

Role Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer the Underground Project Engineer is responsible for underground construction projects from design, print preparation, cost estimating and work supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the designs for UG construction projects and present them to stakeholders for approval;
  • Prepare the detailed technical drawings for construction projects;
  • Order and track the material required for construction projects;
  • Present construction projects to UG personnel, with additional focus on construction methodology and safe production;
  • Coordinate projects that require multiple departments by ensuring all stakeholders are kept informed and involved;
  • Project follow up: site visits, quality control, cost control and adherence to plan;
  • Site inspections for future projects, establishing work necessary before mobilization;
  • Responsible for mine dewatering system design and deployment;
  • Maintain by weekly construction schedule and communicate to stakeholders;
  • Maintain standard construction budgetary cost estimates;
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts in relation with UG projects;
  • Participation in RFQs and supplier/contractor selection;
  • Manage and support on site contractors
  • Coordinate off site fabrication and material supply
  • Other tasks as required;


Qualifications:

  • Graduate BSc in Mining Engineering with minimum 2 year of underground mining experience. Alternate engineering fields (i.e. Mechanical, Electrical, Civil) will be considered provided the candidate has sufficient mining related experience.
  • Underground technical experience particularly in: CAD design, UG construction projects, scheduling and cost estimating.
  • Excellent knowledge of underground construction methods highly regarded.
  • Previous experience working with and/or for mining contracting companies would be advantageous
  • UG water management experience would be advantageous
  • UG material movement and hoisting circuit knowledge would be advantageous
  • UG backfill, specifically paste fill, experience would be advantageous
  • The individual should have demonstrated a high level of energy, self motivation and strong organizational skills.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, growing work environment.
  • The incumbent will demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong commitment to working in a safe, socially responsible manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required, Deswik, SAP, Autocad and Promine preferred.


The schedule for this position is based in a camp operation working on an 14/14 rotation schedule (11 hours/day) with flights provided from Sudbury Toronto and Rouyn-Noranda.Pay or shift range:$90,000 CADto$156,500 CAD
