In this role, you will provide technical leadership for groundwater compliance and hydrogeologic services supporting landfills and other solid waste management facilities. You will oversee project delivery, lead client and regulatory interactions, develop staff, and support strategic growth initiatives across the Southeast region.
This position will have primary responsibility for groundwater compliance programs, hydrogeologic assessments, permitting support, and consulting for public and private sector clients.
Responsibilities include leading and growing the Southeast groundwater practice, driving business development, and developing the team, resources, and technical capabilities necessary to support our clients and continued growth. You will be expected to work in a hybrid capacity from the Atlanta (Duluth) office.
How you can make an impact
You will support SCS’s strategic business objectives and critical infrastructure projects:
- Plan, develop, and execute scientific projects and technical studies addressing complex groundwater, hydrogeologic, and environmental compliance challenges. This may include research, scope development, selection of investigative approaches, and development of innovative solutions.
- Serve as Project Manager, Client Manager, Technical Manager, or senior technical advisor, maintaining regular communication with clients, regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Deliver projects on time, within scope, and within budget while managing project financial performance, resource allocation, and staffing needs.
- Prepare, review, and provide quality control for technical reports, design plans, calculations, data analyses, groundwater evaluations, health and safety plans, and related work products.
- Lead permitting efforts and regulatory agency coordination for solid waste and environmental projects.
- Coordinate and direct multidisciplinary project teams, including field personnel, GIS specialists, CAD designers, subcontractors, and third-party vendors.
- Mentor, develop, and supervise junior staff through technical guidance, project assignments, and career development opportunities.
- Coordinate and oversee field investigations, groundwater monitoring programs, and compliance-related activities.
- Solicit client feedback, anticipate project challenges, and develop practical solutions that support client satisfaction and long-term relationships.
- Develop and maintain relationships with technical experts throughout the company to support project success and enhance service delivery.
- Lead proposal development efforts, working closely with clients to understand project objectives, technical requirements, and emerging needs.
- Lead business development efforts, including client prospecting, key account planning, opportunity capture strategies, and expansion of groundwater and hydrogeologic services throughout the Southeast region.
- Represent SCS through professional associations, conferences, technical presentations, committees, and industry involvement.
- Review, implement, and improve company SOPs, standards, and templates while helping develop new tools, procedures, and best practices.
- Participate in strategic planning and lead service line and business planning initiatives that support growth of the Southeast Business Unit and groundwater practice.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Chemistry or related science major with hydrogeology coursework required.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience required.
- Experience with statistical analysis and related groundwater statistical analysis software preferred. Groundwater modeling is a plus.
- Experience supporting landfill and other solid waste management facility compliance, permitting, monitoring, and engineering projects preferred.
- E. or P.G. registration required (preferably in Georgia, Alabama, and Florida) or ability to obtain reciprocity in within 6 months.
- Experience managing project financials and leading technical teams.
- Knowledge of applicable regulations, regulatory agencies, and permitting requirements.
- Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing is required.
Pay RangeUSD $140,000.00 - USD $165,000.00 /Yr.
