Summary:

The Project Director, reporting to the Senior Vice President of Program Development, is a senior project leader responsible for driving significant and complex cross-functional initiatives. These may include new client services, enterprise initiatives, client implementations, and major technology-enabled change.

The Project Director brings structure and momentum to complex work by translating objectives into actionable plans and leading initiatives from definition through implementation and transition. Working across business and technology functions, clients, and external partners, the Project Director drives alignment, accountability, timely decision-making, and progress toward successful outcomes.

Responsibilities Include
  • Lead complex, high-priority, cross-functional projects involving multiple business functions, technology teams, vendors, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Translate business objectives into executable project plans, establishing scope, deliverables, milestones, dependencies, resource requirements, ownership, and measures of success.
  • Drive projects forward by coordinating work across teams, establishing accountability, resolving barriers, following up on commitments, and maintaining momentum toward agreed outcomes.
  • Manage project risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies driving timely resolution or escalation.
  • Coordinate project decision-making by identifying decisions required, bringing the appropriate stakeholders together, documenting outcomes, and escalating when necessary.
  • Facilitate project governance and communication, including kickoffs, working sessions, status meetings, executive updates, decision-making, and retrospectives.
  • Provide clear and accurate project visibility through concise reporting on overall health, progress, milestones, risks, dependencies, decisions, and upcoming priorities.
  • Lead stakeholder and client engagement, building alignment and accountability across executives, functional leaders, subject-matter experts, external partners, and project teams.
  • Lead technology-enabled initiatives in partnership with internal technology teams, external vendors, and/or clients to manage dependencies, commitments and keep the projects on track.
  • Coordinate all aspects of readiness, including business processes, technology, compliance, communications, training, documentation, operational readiness, and transition to ongoing ownership.
  • Apply and strengthen delivery standards through consistent use of project plans, RAID logs, status reporting, decision logs, change management, and other project management practices.

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in a business, healthcare management, or technology discipline.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in project management, consulting, professional services, or related delivery roles.
  • 5+ years independently leading complex, cross-functional projects involving multiple departments and senior stakeholders, and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects from definition and planning through implementation, operational readiness, and transition.
  • Experience leading technology-enabled business initiatives, partnering closely with internal technology teams and external vendors.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management skills with demonstrated ability to drive results through individuals and teams who do not directly report to the role.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry, including healthcare delivery organizations, healthcare technology, revenue cycle management, or related healthcare services.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle processes and terminology, including provider financial operations, patient financial responsibility, billing, payments, and related workflows.
  • Strong project planning, risk, and issue management skills with the ability to bring structure and direction to complex or ambiguous initiatives.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and consultative skills, including the ability to lead effective meetings, facilitate decisions, communicate with senior and executive stakeholders, and create and maintain high-quality project artifacts.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and SharePoint, with demonstrated ability to create professional, executive-ready presentations, reports, and project materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a growing, evolving environment, establishing structure and delivery discipline where processes, roles, or requirements may not yet be fully defined.

Preferred
  • Experience working directly with health systems, or other healthcare delivery organizations.
  • Experience leading client-facing healthcare or revenue cycle implementations.
  • Experience leading initiatives involving patient financial services, patient payments, revenue cycle technology, or related financial workflows.
  • Experience with Epic EHR, particularly revenue cycle functionality, integrations, or workflows.
  • Experience leading enterprise technology implementations, vendor selections, system integrations, or significant business process change.
  • Experience developing and improving project management methodologies, tools, and practices.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • MBA or other relevant advanced degree.
