Full Job Description
HDR is seeking an experienced Project Development Project Manager to join our Michigan-based Power Generation team. As a Project Manager, you will be joining a highly capable, multi-discipline team that supports power and energy projects within the industrial, institutional, municipal, independent power producer (IPP) and utility power and energy industry. The Project Manager will be a seller-doer who helps maintain client relationships, brings in projects, develops strategy, and plans for performing the work, monitors and communicates status of the project, and leads multi-discipline project teams to successful completion of the work. This role requires significant client interaction (from pre-positioning for the work through project completion) and strong verbal and written communication skills as needed for regular interaction with internal staff such as project team members, marketing staff, and operations leadership. The ideal candidate will have experience with developing conceptual drawings, heat balances, water balances, technology comparison tables, site due diligence assessments, project pro formas, air permit applications, generation interconnect agreements and applications, project schedules, project cost estimates, bid specifications, pipe and equipment sizing calculations, technical memos, bid evaluations, performance procedure and test reviews, feasibility studies, reports and consulting. Significant experience with the development, specification, and negotiation of power generation systems for simple cycle, combined cycle, cogeneration, distributed generation, reciprocating engine, combined heat and power, and renewables projects, as well as proven ability to plan, schedule, and lead complex design and consulting assignments. Responsibilities include 34; Develop and maintain positive and proactive client relationships. 34; Achieve project schedule, quality, and profitability goals. 34; Serve as proposal champion/manager and assist with proposal preparation, review of contract terms and conditions, and evaluate risks associated with the services being offered. 34; Provide daily leadership to the project team and technical staff in completion of project activities. 34; Provide regular communication and coordination within the project team and with the client such that the project work plan and the clients expectations on deliverables are understood and aligned. Monitor project deliverables for quality, completeness and conformance to the clients expectations. 34; Proactively monitor and maintain the project budget and schedule. Develop appropriate recovery plans in the event of potential shortfalls. 34; Monitor the contracted scope of work and identify scope changes. 34; Provide training and mentoring to project team staff on project management and project consulting issues. 34; Perform design or consulting work in the managers area of engineering expertise. 34; Routinely report project progress to the local and regional accounting and operations team. 34; All other duties as assigned Preferred Qualifications 34; Masters degree 34; PMP certification 34; Have the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects 34; Demonstrated business development and strategic planning skills 34; Good communication, leadership, planning and mentoring skills 34; Excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills 34; MS Office, Adobe and other relevant software experience is required Qualifications Required Qualifications 34; Bachelors degree in Engineering 34; 7 years related experience inclusive of a minimum 2 years experience in project management 34; Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
