DescriptionCONCORD ENGINEERING GROUP, INC. is searching for a Project Designer for our Power & Infrastructure Department located in Voorhees, NJ. We have an immediate need for a Project Designer to join us in providing industry-leading design and consulting services to our clients. Our focus is to design and deliver innovative, resilient, efficient, and sustainable energy infrastructure solutions for our clients.
This position provides you with an opportunity to develop and participate in growing Concord Engineering's dynamic and industry leading business unit delivering system designs and solutions for power, utility and industrial clients. In this role, you will be expected to support industrial power generation and infrastructure projects by developing coordinated design packages, BIM models, and construction documents. You will work closely with the Project Manager and Project Engineer to ensure engineering intent is accurately translated into buildable, high-quality design deliverables. The Project Designer serves as a central coordination point between engineering, BIM, drafting, procurement, and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Design & Coordination
- Develop and coordinate design packages, drawings, and BIM models.
- Translate engineering requirements into accurate, constructible design documents.
- Coordinate multi-discipline design activities and maintain alignment with project scope and schedule.
Engineering Integration
- Incorporate engineering calculations, specifications, and system requirements into design outputs.
- Resolve design issues and integrate approved changes into drawings and BIM models.
- Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and client requirements.
BIM / VDC
- Build and maintain 3D BIM models using Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, and BIM360.
- Support model coordination, clash resolution, and BIM standards adherence.
- Integrate vendor data and field conditions into the project model.
Constructability & Field Support
- Lead constructability reviews and incorporate feedback from construction and procurement teams.
- Identify design risks and support RFIs, field questions, and commissioning activities.
Document Management
- Manage drawing and model updates, revisions, and document control.
- Support procurement packages, construction work packages, and as-built documentation.
Quality & Collaboration
- Participate in design reviews and quality checks.
- Promote best practices, design efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering, BIM, procurement, construction, and project controls teams.
REQUIREMENTS - Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, and BIM360
- Ability to interpret and translate engineering calculations and specifications
- Multi-discipline coordination (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, I&C)
- Understanding of constructability, operability, and maintenance requirements
- Knowledge of industrial power generation systems and equipment
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to manage multiple design packages and deadlines
- Effective communication and collaboration across project teams
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to integrate vendor data and field conditions into design/BIM workflows
- Familiarity with codes, standards, and industry best practices
- Ability to lead design reviews and support field/commissioning activities
- Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and process system design
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and vendor documentation
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent design tasks
- Comfortable working with engineers, construction teams, vendors, and clients
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - Associate or Bachelor's degree in engineering, drafting, design technology, or related field (preferred)
- 5-10 years of experience in industrial, power generation, or infrastructure design
- Advanced experience with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, and BIM360
- Experience developing coordinated BIM models and construction-ready design packages
- Experience supporting construction, procurement, and commissioning activities
- Experience with design standards, quality processes, and document control workflows
COMPENSATIONThe salary range for this position is $78,000 to $130,000 with actual salary based on experience.
