Full Job Description
In the role of Project Designer / Architect, we'll count on you to:

  • Take responsibility for design of architectural projects under the direction of the Design Principal and in close collaboration with the project team.
  • Independently develop alternative concepts and key components of complex projects.
  • Exhibit strong design skills on daily tasks, ensuring high quality and visually compelling execution.
  • Develop materials and participate in client presentations, internal critiques and reviews with various government agencies for project approvals.
  • Understand code and cost implications of design decisions to ensure that design proposals are viable and compliant with project goals.
  • Independently coordinate design with the multidiscipline project team through multiple phases of a project.
  • Conduct internal design/work sessions in conjunction with Design Principal and Project Manager, coordinating with work of other disciplines.
  • Coordinate workload of team members through multiple phases to complete design deliverables on schedule.
  • Review architectural documents for areas of design conflict with the Project Architect and all other disciplines.
  • Write and edit architectural specifications for key design materials and systems, working directly with senior level architects.
  • Incorporate agreed-upon changes into project documents
  • Provide construction contract administration assistance as needed to maintain design intent through construction.
  • Direct the activities of other junior designers and mentor other staff members as needed.
  • Contribute to design culture of studio.
  • Perform other duties as needed.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture.
  • Registered Architect.
  • Experience in the areas of transportation, infrastructure, healthcare, educational, civic, science and research facilities.
  • Interest in sustainable design/LEED strongly desired.
  • Strong technical skills with knowledge in Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite and other related software, Open Buildings is a plus, and graphics programs.
  • Preference given to candidates currently residing in the NYC-Metro Area
